I don't think Vaughn is fast enough for kickoff duty. Punt return, sure.

I do not think he will be in the normal RB rotation ...... I think he will be a special weapon with his own set of downs.

1. Deuce won’t play special teams at all, so he will need significant utility to remain on the field

2. He won’t come in on 3rd and long because he’s too small to block.

2. He NEEDS a mixture of both regular carries AND gadget plays. If he only gets used as a gadget guy, they’ll know it’s a screen or sweep every time. To get there he needs to be RB2 eventually
3rd and long seems like a perfect time to have him in. He’s a dynamic reciever out of the backfield. But I think RB2 is gonna be Jones or Davis.

He needs to be able to return Punts and Kicks.
Unless they feel they can use Turpin in the passing game, but Deuce can be used there as well.

He need to replace Turpin, and they can't have 2 guys just for specialty plays / ST's.
I can't see them carrying only 5 WR's and Turpin is one of them. Though they have carried 6 and even 7 before.
He didn’t return punts in college and only a handful of kicks without any glaring success
Turpin was USFL MVP as a reciever so a good OC should be able to use him in passing game. I think one reason they didn’t last year is he came of a full season of football straight here to play another full season

best to use all RBs in all situations, don't tip your hand when a backs coming in. that's a Kellen moore plan.. i say you just rotate them in and out in all scenarios use all the backs throughout the year, so when the payoffs starts the league doesn't know the play.. again, thanks MOORE! its what got him fired.. i mean this OC genius brought the exact TB 21 gameplan back against TB game 1 22 with different players and lack of WRs and new OL but hey go pass happy because it worked the year before and TB showed us they knew what was coming..

How about we let him show where he fits on the actual field when pads come on

Maybe he can return kicks. Allows us to let Turpin walk and get him in on game day. He can be used in about 10 plays, get 4,5 opportunities and and bring something to the table...Turpin outside of kick return didn't do much else. So you essentially carrying for special teams players only on game day

3. All players need the OC to disguise plays.

I could see us using Luepke as the third-down back, both for pass protection and because he can carry in short yardage or on the occasional draw in longer yardage and is an effective receiver out of the backfield. If we do that, I think Vaughn ends up being the back who relieves Pollard for a few series per game to keep him from getting too beat up. Of course, Ronald Jones II and Davis will be vying for that role as well.

Really, unless Vaughn is used on kick returns, I'm not sure any of our backs are that great as special-teammers outside of Luepke.

Don't confuse quickness and speed, Duce like Sproles has quickness, the ability to cover 10 yds in 1.5 seconds or less.
Deady in all down and distances.

From the 50 yd line is he gonna get caught from behind? probably.

But when it's third and five he'll get you eight.

He'll probably average over 5yds/carry as well as line up in the slot as a WR. He'll also be tough to stop on screen passes.

This is exactly why I wrote the OP. I don’t want him to be treated like Turpin, where every time he’s in there it’s a WR screen or hand it off to Turpin in motion.

To me Deuce is a legit (albeit unique) RB, and will need to get RB2 quantities of carries to not become a 1-trick element in the offense. He’s too dynamic to be cornered in like that
