Devin Thomas: Pulled Hamstring
Devin Thomas, the wide receiver who was the Commanders' first overall pick in the April draft, was taken from the field on a cart after suffering what Coach Jim Zorn said is a pulled hamstring. Zorn, speaking immediately after the morning practice, said the team was not yet certain of the severity of the injury, but that he did not believe Thomas, who is getting treatment now, would be out too long.

"There was nothing I could say," Zorn said of the team's training camp injuries. "Here we go again."

Thomas was hurt running down the right sideline for a deep pass from Jason Campbell and fell to the ground as he went for the catch. A 6-2, 218-pounder from Michigan State, Thomas was a second-round pick.
...
LaRon Landry, who was not participating in the morning drills, said he had tweaked hamstring and thought it would be fine in a couple of days. Shawn Springs took a lot of snaps, as mentioned earlier, at safety as well as cornerback. Rookie Kareem Moore also is ailing. Zorn said Moore has some swelling in his knee - he had surgery this offseason - and continues to rest. The team will soon "rev" him back up, Zorn said, and test the knee again.

Even for our most hated rivals I hate to hear this kind of thing. Injuries suck.
Ditto. I don't wish this sort of thing on anyone, even our most hated rivals. They really seem to be snake-bitten so far in July.

I'd much rather inflict pain to them on the scoreboard twice a year.

I liked this kid coming out of college - for where he was drafted that's a good value pick.

Maybe someone can introduce the Commanders training staff to a new warmup method being developed by the government called stretching. Or maybe they can give the players water. Who knows?

Ahhh give him a salt tablet and send him back in. Water makes you weak. ;)

I was at camp this morning, and the play happened right by me. I must say, it did not look good to me. He was running a go patter in 11 on 11 drills and JC threw the deep ball. Thomas dove and tried to adjust to it came up lame. He looked to be in agony on the ground. He tried to get back up but fell down. The cart came and drove him off, and he threw a towel over his head as if he thought is was really bad. I honestly thought he tore something.

If he just pulled something, it is a lot better then I imagined.

If they can't walk what else are they going to do? lol

What happened to the old one trainer on each side to help them off?

You know, like they did back in the time of salt pills. ;)

They originally did that to try and move him, but Thomas still couldn't move. They kept him propped up like that for about a minute until the cart came.

trust me if you rip a hammy you are in agony and if it is bad enough you can not stand because the entire muscle just start locking up and you get muscle spasms. Just be glad no tendon detached and it is early in camp so he maybe able to rest it enough to let it heal properly.

Lots of ice; anti-inflammatory and stretching will be his friend the next couple weeks

Okay, thanks.

Hopefully it's not torn or anything. Maybe Thomas was just scared.

Wow ..... I hate to speculate but that sounds like tear.

But maybe the Skins will be lucky and he just has a low tolerance for pain.
