Devin Thomas: Pulled Hamstring
Devin Thomas, the wide receiver who was the Commanders' first overall pick in the April draft, was taken from the field on a cart after suffering what Coach Jim Zorn said is a pulled hamstring. Zorn, speaking immediately after the morning practice, said the team was not yet certain of the severity of the injury, but that he did not believe Thomas, who is getting treatment now, would be out too long.
"There was nothing I could say," Zorn said of the team's training camp injuries. "Here we go again."
Thomas was hurt running down the right sideline for a deep pass from Jason Campbell and fell to the ground as he went for the catch. A 6-2, 218-pounder from Michigan State, Thomas was a second-round pick.
...
LaRon Landry, who was not participating in the morning drills, said he had tweaked hamstring and thought it would be fine in a couple of days. Shawn Springs took a lot of snaps, as mentioned earlier, at safety as well as cornerback. Rookie Kareem Moore also is ailing. Zorn said Moore has some swelling in his knee - he had surgery this offseason - and continues to rest. The team will soon "rev" him back up, Zorn said, and test the knee again.
