Devonta Smith the Heismann Winner put up great numbers at Alabama the last 2 seasons. Here is the catch, He had Jerry Jeudy & Henry Ruggs in 2019 and Jaylen Waddle & Joe Meggie taking double coverage off of him. Is he a #1 WR in this league at 6-1,170 lbs? Faster WRs in this draft and some bigger could make his draft stock drop.

Devonta Smith 6-1,170 ran a 4.48

Jamarr Chase 6- -1,200 ran a 4.38

Terrance Marshall 6- 3, 205 rams 4.38

Rashad Bateman 6-1 ,190 - 4.39

Kadarius Toney 6-0,193 4.39

Nico Collins 6-4,215- 4,42

Tamorrion Terry- 6-2,206-4.44

Slots
Jaylen Waddle 5-10,182- 4.38

Elijah Moore 5-10,178- 4.32

Rondale Moore 5-7,180 -4.29

D'wayne Eskridge 5-9,180- 4.38

Devonta Smith is a good route runner but at 170 lbs can he hold up to bigger corners who can run faster than him and they are jamming pushing him off route? In my opinion he reminds me of Desmond Howard who was a good route runner but not a great WR in the NFL and got relegated to being a returner

Is Devonta Smith a # 1 WR in the NFL?. To me he is like Sterling Sheppard of the Giants whom after they traded OBJ. They hyped Sheppard to be their #1 WR with Golliday & Darius Slayton starting this year, that leaves Sheppard at 3rd and he might lose that spot after this draft

If he isnt a #1, he is a high end #2. He is significantly better than Sterling Sheppard. I think you are underrating him by putting too much into his measurables

I don’t see him getting past the Eagles but I can’t see the Lions or Panthers passing on a offensive tackle to draft him. He needs the right quarterback to succeed. Your list of receivers is the reason why I don’t think Waddle or Smith will be top 10 picks.

Because some people are fixated on ‘40 times’ as the end-all, be-all of football.

Kids...

So you would pass on Deion Sanders because he was fast and didn't like to tackle? Sanders wasn't an all around DB

If Devonta Smith was 185- 190 there isn't a questiin but at 170?. I dont think he is a #1 WR and not even sure he is a #2 either. I think he is a Slot WR and also very good Slot WRs in this draft. Smith has to go to a team that has a big #1.WR If he goes to the Eagles to be paired with Jalen Reagor he flops. Somewhere like the Titans flops. He is going to need help to succeed as a WR. So is that a top 15 -20 pick? Not in my book. That is why I can see he could slide

I say this remember former Cowboy Byron Jines. He ran a 4.36 vs,Devonta's 4.48. Jones also is 6-1,200 lbs. Jones could jam and knock Smith off route all game

Smith played just 6 games with Waddle this season. How exactly did Waddle benefit him?

Joe Meggie was there. Also this isn't college football. In the NFL everyone is fast ,there are not 4.65 corners and 4.7- 4.8 safeties. like in college.

You don’t think there are 6’-1” corners in the SEC?

Hey guyz, Timb here doesn’t realize Erick Stokes, Campbell, Horn, etc. play in the SEC.

Another poor example. Sanders is an EXCEPTION, not the RULE. There wasn’t one like him before and hadn’t been one since.

I wouldn’t rule out Richard Sherman for a 4.56 40 time.

Lol, yes, John Metchie is the reason why Smith literally had twice the numbers Metchie did.

Your theory doesn’t hold water.

You claim Jeudy and Riggs made Smith in 2019, when he went for 1,200+ and 14 TDs. Both of those guys go to the NFL and Smith drops 1,800+ yards and 23 TDs in 2020.

I think that is why Devonta Smith didn't want to practice at the Senior Bowl. He didn't even want his measurements taken. He knew and trying to become a high pick still.

You are proving my point Devonta Smith had help.
