Third down against the Lions, Romo was 1-1 to Dez for a TD, 0-0 to Witten, and 2-12 to everyone else. How did that work out for us?

It worked good enough to win, we started off slow due to the amount of pressure Romo kept taking. As the game went on we starting protecting better and Romo settled down, then we hung 17 on them in the 4th quarter. Our OFFENSE took the lead THREE separate times in the 4th, it's not their fault we have a piss poor passing defense that will go down as one of the worst in history.

Fish responding to this last night by saying that Dez had 10 4th quarter receptions, which means Keyshawn's (of course) full of crap.

Whole nother argument because I don't think Garrett should have trusted our piss poor passing defense on either of the Lions final two drives where the D got one stop and then obviously we lost. How do you trust what you have seen all fourth quarter and having Webb, Heath, and Hamilton out there on the back end? Don't leave the game up to them. I agree, our defense makes it hard for our offense, yet we should have been up by more before the fourth.

This is one of those stats that are MISLEADING, just like the other Dez stats where we're 1-8 when he scores multiple TDs. The reason Dez doesn't get targeted much in the 4th is because we're being a much more CONSERVATIVE offense trying to preserve the LEAD.

People on this site act like Romo doesn't throw Dez's way a lot, and that's completely false, they need to get their facts straight. Dez gets targeted just as much as all the other top WRs in the league, yet you still have people here who act like Romo doesn't even look his way.

This is for you - V

Targets through this year

A.J Greeen // 85 Targets
Calvin Johnson // 79 Targets
Dez Bryant // 77 Targets
Andre Johnson // 71 Targets
Brandon Marshall // 68 Targets

You want to explain how we're shutting our play maker down? Last time I checked he's on pace for 154 TARGETS, 90 receptions, 1300 yards, and 16 TDs. If you consider that getting shut down, then please, talk about unrealistic expectations.

And also, the reason we're 4-4 is because our passing defense is on pace to be one of the worst defenses ever. Every good QB we have faced has put up 400+ yards on us, our defense can only stop below average QBs who can't hit a wide open target.

good thing we're playing the vikings this week.

The whole point is that, Dez is so good you can go to him even when defenses are trying to take him away.

This isn't a true statement. I've seen many passes to Dez who's double covered and not able to catch the ball.

You dont think having only ten 4rth quarter receptions is extremely low judging by the amount of close games we've had this year?

They didn't go to him enough in the Lions game...

Better? Forget the stats.

Going amiss in the Keyshawn, Hasselbeck, and Jaws argument is Keyshawn mentioning Dez only has 6 fourth quarter targets all season long. 8 games, 6 targets in crunch time! Callahan and Garrett have to figure out a way to get him the ball more if defenses are taking him away. Put him in the slot, in motion, something. And Tony has to get the ball to him. This will not cut it and is certainly part of the reason we are 4-4. WE ARE SHUTTING OUR BEST PLAYMAKER DOWN OURSELVES...
That's on Romo our 108 million dollar quarterback. he is the only person who makes the decision on if he's throwing to Dez or not. don't blame anyone else.

Callahan and Garrett have to be more creative with Dez. Romo is not gonna force it in double coverage though he proved he could with that beautiful 4th quarter TD to Dez. Romo is also trusting the emerging rookie Williams more and that had worked out well so far.

Perhaps, but this assumes that Dez is capable of playing all WR positions. I heard an interview with Carter earlier in the year about this. Basically, what he said was that Dez is a great talent but he's not Megatron. He said he's not Megatron because CJ can move all along the Offense and threaten at any point in the field from anywhere in the Offense. Dez can't do that because he doesn't know the offense well enough. He said that until Dez can do that, he will never be as good as Megatron.

I thought that was interesting. Perhaps this is why we never see Dez being moved around like we do other WRs?

Is Dez mentally capable of being moved around is the question.

I agree in premise but Dez has to be able master more routes at different positions. Last I heard he still has a limited route tree.

Completely plausible, he had a lot of trouble with the playbook early on in his career and made key mistakes. We were all told through the media and team that Dez was becoming a true professional, "becoming a student of the game" lol. I just want to see results.

Coaching, coaching coaching. Seriously, how hard is it to see we have a bunch of goofs in charge?

I think Dez is a great player but I believe that there is a reason we don't move him around more in the offense. There has to be. He is too big a weapon, especially if you can move him around and match him up against the weakest CB on the field or against a Safety. There has to be a reason we don't do this IMO. Just makes too much sense otherwise. JMO

I am not a fan boy of Garrett's. I never really have been but I do try and stay balanced, believe it or not. I just have a hard time calling Garrett out for running the ball at the end of the game last Sunday. To me, the problem was execution, not play selection.

Now, you can certainly make the jump to coaching and link that to Garrett as the HC in charge. That is reasonable and even warranted IMO. If at the end of the season, we are again 8-8, even if we make the playoffs, I am not sure I would not make a move. The rest of the division is not going to continue to get worse. They will eventually right the ships. If you can't post a 10 win season this year, with our division being what it is, then we have a big problem IMO. I just think that's a discussion for the end of the year and not the half way point. We can still make noise IMO.

The problem is we don't have an HC or an OC that knows how to get their best playmaker involved. The fact that T. Wiliams almost got double the tosses his way compared to Dez is a problem. The first play we got Dez involved in wasn't even a pass. When was the first time they passed to him, nearly at the end of the 2nd quarter?
