I'm not sure if it's Dez or his new management team but if they keep insisting on too much money, It won't matter if he only wants to play for Dallas. After today I think his only options are to sign his tender or sit out. Choosing to sit out only serves to justify the Cowboys not paying him the big bucks he wants.

I think it is. I agree that they are positioning here but that only works to a point. If you push it too far, it could be more attractive for Dallas to just trade him for what they can get out of him. I don't see that happening but that doesn't mean it couldn't.

I'm not saying he will get it. I've just always said he's asking at min cj money. Thats where they will start. Cowboys started at 11m and 20m guarantee. Lol that's a huge difference to make up. That's why I laugh when people think he will sign for 12m and 30m guarantee. That's not gonna happen. He would done been signed if it was that simple. I agree that is the max the cowboys should give him. It's not gonna happen though.

My only concern is if we tag him two years in a row that he will go half *** on the field and not want to produce because we haven't given him what he wants. You know throw a tantrum and all that. I know people are going to say "He'll want to stay professional for any future team he goes to if not the Boyz," but he could still take plays off which would hurt the team. That is my biggest concern.

Fine. If he takes plays off, then that would tell us all we need to know. But in my opinion, that isnt his style. In reality, he is going to want more gaudy numbers to justify the high salary. He is essentially in a contract year until he resigns.

You pay for good players what am I missing here? Wanna spend that money elsewhere? Save it?

This'll get done. Cowboys are in no rush bc they know dez sucks with money and are making him sweat it out. Dez is taking it personally and got silly.

That's funny.

Folks, expect nothing until July 15th.

The old rule of negotiation is, the first one to talk loses money. Nobody is ready to talk.

Well, that's a possibility but if he does that, then he risks what his value to other teams might be after his tag is up. If he were tagged for two years and he basically slumped for both years, he would be 29 years old trying to sign a big contract with two below par seasons. I don't think that's the way to leverage a big contract. JMO

not at 17 mill a year if that is indeed what he wants. I love having Dez that does not mean whatever the player wants he gets. Dallas would be stupid to do that.

12.8 million is paying for a good player. 17 million is paying too much for a good player. I don't think we are going to see that happen but who knows. Jerry sometimes does things I do not understand.

Imo the min dez would take to remain a cowboy would be 14m a yr and 40m guarantee. My max for the cowboys would be 13m a yr and 35m guarantee. So I wouldn't be too up set with 14 and 40.

Detroit was stupid when they handed CJ this deal, he is great but I don't see where his play has brought anything to Det
Calvin Johnson signed a 7 year, $113,450,000 contract with the Detroit Lions, including a $16,000,000 signing bonus, $48,750,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $16,207,143. In 2015, Johnson will earn a base salary of $12,500,000. Johnson has a cap hit of $20,558,000 while his dead money value is $20,974,000.
