When did being a Dallas Cowboy mean you have to be a saint. Our history is peppered with players that were not always on the right side of the law . I do not under any circumstances condone any type of violence. And IF he hurt someone, he should face whatever the proper charge and punishment is. But I am going to wait and see what unfolds before I throw him under the bus.

And I laugh at all the "holier than thou" people on this board. Like you never broke the law before. Just because you may not have been caught, don't make you a better person than someone who was. At his age, I drove fast, but never got a speeding ticket, I had drinks and I drove fast, never got a DUI. At his age, I got in fights at bars, never got arrested. Judge all you want, but at least look in the mirror before you do.

There is a lot of over reaction in this thread but there is some under reaction as well. Because like you I did a lot of the above mentioned things, unlike you I wasn't as lucky I got caught on quite a few things. But it wasn't 1/100th of what I actually did. Just like Dez he has made "headlines" 4-5 times as a Cowboy. But how many times has he went out and got lucky not to get in trouble. I will bet the 4-5 times he made the news is not the only time he has put himself in a bad situation. It only takes once to really screw up your life. He has been lucky so far but when will the luck run out?

and just what is the situation? only facts please.

Facts? Like being booked for domestic violence?

That's about the only fact there is and if you cover the spectrum of possibilities you have.......

At the least, having a shouting match and then having to turn oneself in.

At worst, beating his spouse.

Take your pick of the two or anything in between, I doubt many here have had to go through it.

You genuinely disagree or just chose not to agree?

I agree.

Most arrests are made on a lottery system where police randomly select people's name out of a hate. I'm betting that absolutely nothing happened at all and Dez simply had his number drawn.

You REALLY believe arrests are random/lottery based?

But doesn't the type of offense dictate the level of punishment?

In other words, I don't think you classify something as a Class A, B or C misdemeanor based on what you think the punishment should be...

I'm also guessing that Texas law probably dictates that certain crimes automatically be deemed a "Class A misdemeanor"...

Is that the legal definition? lol...

I'm not sure how much that helps or hurts Bryant, to be honest...

This is what I was referring to in my later post when I said him turning himself in 2 days later (thought it was 2 days later, not 1) might actually shine favorably on him.

Ok, that's not so good for him, then lol...

The legal definition of an offenses is established by the range of punishment assigned to each classification of offense. The legislature decides what punishment is proper for each offense. In other words, Yes, the crimes are classified by what the punishment should be. The penal code defines the elements of the offense, and then states the level of punishment as decided by the legislature.

Yeah, just a bunch of lawyerese. "legal definition" has very specific meaning. And, prosecutors have such broad authority, they often decide what the charge is going to be based upon what they believe the punishment should be. Life is not just black ink on white pages, and neither is the law.

i disagree 100%.

why?

cause we don't know what happened. which makes ANY decision premature and subject to agendas.

Hey Ice. The problem for me is his building a crappy reputation. It's simple to fix, he just can't seem to get it.

I thought the Paterno house hold had the market cornered on denial. How many times does an employer let you embarass them before you are shown the door?

since we don't know what he did is it not premature to say we don't know WHAT he is building?

growing up, we all take our own roads. my dad told me what was simple most of my life. but at least i had him there. i'm not asking dez to grow up under my standards but his own and that means giving room you'd not give for yourself.

but flat out - i will NOT say this is bad until i know what it is.

regardless of todays headline.

hey - irvin head a gun to a hookers head while eric did the nasty.

oh wait.

you'd think we'd learn from history but no.

In big bold letters on Dallascowboys.com it says "Bryant Arrested". If that was on my companies home page, I dont know about you but I know I would be embarrassed and my boss would be pissed to say the least. I am sure they know some facts or it wouldn't be on the web-site. If they want to share them or not is a whole different story.

so what did dez do? i'll help put a boot up his booty to get him out of here if SOMEONE can tell me what he did outside a simple headline and past history drainage.

what did dez do?

you don't know - so your opinion of it means less than what i know so far.

night.
