Won't rag on the entire genre, because I think some of it - especially the seminal stuff that launched thousands of imitators - is amazing.
That said, not sure I'd call a guy who comes in and intones a non-melodic rap to a computer sequenced beat someone else created a "musician." An aspiring "poet", perhaps. Hell, you don't even have to know how to play an instrument to create a beat today.
A guy who can walk into a cocktail bar, sit down at the piano, and sing a song...holding the pleasant attention of the audience? THAT'S a "musician."
In any event, props to Dez for exploring his artistic side.
