I do listen to rap music and that short clip was terrible. Tons of undiscovered peeps on sound cloud doing it waaaay better.

I'm with Snoop Dogg and don't like Mumble Rap which is what Dez was doing.

Won't rag on the entire genre, because I think some of it - especially the seminal stuff that launched thousands of imitators - is amazing.

That said, not sure I'd call a guy who comes in and intones a non-melodic rap to a computer sequenced beat someone else created a "musician." An aspiring "poet", perhaps. Hell, you don't even have to know how to play an instrument to create a beat today.

A guy who can walk into a cocktail bar, sit down at the piano, and sing a song...holding the pleasant attention of the audience? THAT'S a "musician."

In any event, props to Dez for exploring his artistic side.

I suppose "noise" is subjective - any undesirable sound. Rapping is just as much of an art as singing, dancing a playing musical instruments. As with anything, some people are better at it than others.

i grew up in a music family Several grammy awards in country music. i grew up playing rock, funk, blues, jazz... Way back, I used to think the same thing as AC.

By now, in 2023, I've realized that's not the case . just a different means and genre.

Hip hop or rap is definitely muaic.

If rapping wasn't music, why has it been the TOP selling form of music globally for MANY many years now?? It sells MUCH more than all other music categories.

Because people wanna be "gangsta". They feel it makes them look tough. Quite the opposite actually. Plus, not many people can truly sing. Rap is like Death Metal: just noise being repeated over and over with instrumentation in the background.
