WR targets over last 3 years: Megatron 518, Marshall 499, Welker 459, A.J. 457, Fitzgerald 445, V. Jackson 421, Roddy 420, Dez Bryant 400."

TD receptions over the last 3 seasons: Dez Bryant 34, Calvin Johnson 33, Eric Decker 32, Jordy Nelson 30, A.J. Green 29, Brandon Marshall 29"

EDIT: Anyway to edit the title? Did not mean to put least targeted over the last 3 years.

How many targets did Nelson and decker have? 30+ TD's for them is awesome.

I agree with your premise, we need to get dez even more involved. He can't disappear for long stretches like he did this year. Need to be more creative in getting dez open.

He just has a knack for the end zone he is a very good young WR who can still get better. That is a scary thought there.

Dez is a wasted talent if he is not targeted. Callahan and Jason should know better. It is foolish not to use that great of a player.

Jordy Nelson scored 30 TDs on 295 targets
Dez Bryant scored 34 TDs on 401 targets

Amazingly, Nelson only scored a single TD in the last 9 games this season (8 of them without Rodgers).

Wow. I see two ways at looking at this.. Nelson is just better than dez... Or Nelson and decker are products of a superior passing scheme. I would choose the latter.

They also have better weapons around them to take the heat off every now and again.

Talent wise I don't think those 2 have what Dez naturally has. However they both work those scheme/systems to their advantage. I think they are both more polished then Dez. That was my point though that it's scary how good Dez is and he has a lot of room to grow

Just so I have this straight:

Dez needs to catch more passes.
Murray needs more touches.
Escobar need to be a bigger part of the offense.
Beasley needs to be thrown to more
Dunbar needs to be used like Reggie Bush.

Got it.

Maybe the NFL will let the Cowboys use 2 footballs on offense next year.

I view Decker as a product of the system. I view Nelson as a beast. He is a big guy (6-3, 217) who runs impeccable routes -- makes him very hard to defend.

There is an argument against Nelson however -- it is if James Jones can grab 14 TDs as he did in 2012, maybe it makes Nelson's 15 TDs in 2011 seem more like a product of the system.

I've been a fan of Nelson since he tore up the Big 12 while at Kansas State.

They also have Peyton manning and Aaron Rodgers throwing them the ball. Dez is the most physically gifted. But decker and Nelson run better routes and qb's can depend on those guys a little more than dez I think. Put dez on the packers or broncos and he puts up other-worldly type numbers. A lot of it is better passing scheme IMO.

Just for the sake of comparison, trade out dez with Nelson or decker... I think dez's numbers would go up and Nelson/deckers numbers would go down.

Could be both or Dez is better but Nelson is good, there are multiple receivers in GBs offense that get targeted i.e. more people to cover, GB's QB may be better than ours, they played a different schedule, yada.

Is it really just the scheme or does dez not get open? I love dez but I have a hard time believing its all scheme. it would help if he had some good wrs around him i guess.

Dez gets open watch the all 22 film and it's very obvious. Scheme wise this team is run inside out and the TE is the first option. Harris even confirmed this to be fact. So yes most of is scheme and play design. We also don't run many quick hitters either and that's a big problem.

It's not just scheme or Dez. Defenses know he's one key to stopping our offense. What's amazing is he gets open anyway. If Miles had been playing and playing well then that might have made a difference. Williams should be better next year.

Nelson ans decker arent even mumber One receiver on their teams. Which is amazing. Demaryius Thomas also has 28 TD's the last 3 years. Half of those came this past season.
