Competely agree. Dez is a freak and can outmuscle those S and even a lot of LBs across the middle after the catch. He has a perfect frame for the slant. And the skill set/talent.

Yes I still don't see how with all this information and just watching him on the field, how these coaches do not get more creative in getting him the ball. So many times across the league, I see teams use their best WR all over the field and different routes to get him the ball. You see it in flashes but too often, he lines up at the same spot and runs the same basic routes called for him. Get the ball in his hands while on the run over the middle and let him work. Unless they don't feel his route tree is that good. Not sure.

I was looking at that too, but since the Cowboys offense (and by extension the route Dez runs) is predicated on the defense, I'd imagine corners often times line up across from Dez with inside leverage to take that away, since that's one of the easier hook ups between a QB and WR. In other words, a good opportunity to run the slant likely rarely presented itself.

You have to realize we have a mickey mouse coaching staff. The same staff that likes to change up the identity of the team going into the playoffs. It's ridiculous. They did that in 2007 and now in 2016. The common denominator of both is Garrett. OC in 2007 and HC in 2016. We don't ever try and scheme to beat the other team and take advantage of their weaknesses. We allow the defense to dictate what we do and if they take away what we want, we just go crawl in a hole and wither away. Adjustments are not their strong suit at all. Our offense is all about our guys winning their battles with the other guys. That's it. They don't ever try and put their players in the best positions to exploit the other team. Garrett needs a top QB/RB duo that is at the very top of efficiency to even have a winning record.

They preach the fundamentals and rely solely on talent.


The 2 teams in the Super Bowl are 2 of the better teams at scheming in the NFL.

Dallas is all about imposing our will but we can be outcoached by inferior teams like the Packers.

The draft is really where we have to improve because if we don't we'll trot out some average player and he'll do a average job in a average scheme.

I think most good WRs average somewhere around 60% overall catch rate. I might lower the number on GO routes to something like 45%.
Based on that:
Beckham: 8 routes
Brown: 9 routes
Green: 9 routes
Dez: 4 routes

The data is also for a team that distributes the ball well and has niche receivers, like Beasley, who run certain routes better than Dez. Also, the data is for 13 games for Dez. With those three extra games, three more games to develop with Dak, they would have hit their stride (chemistry with one another) sooner than they eventually did.

Side note, look at all the screens AJ Green received! Dude is a beast! OBJ at -5 yds on screens shows his lack of strength, being able to disengage corners at the point of attack. His skill set is obviously speed and route running and being elusive.

This is a pretty good assessment. But I would counter that by saying it's likely AJ Green would be running similar routes in Garrett's offense.
