Did you see OBJ's slant numbers, Reboot? :D

Poor little fella :D

No I haven't. But I do agree with you that Bryant needs more slants and rub routes as well as post patterns. That 100% success rate and its one of those routes that is difficult to cover.

I wish they use more rub route concepts. With this personnel we have now with Switzer and Bryant running across the middle it will make this offense almost unstoppable. Last time Bryant ran a rub route it went all the way for the TD.

Nice and pretty much proves that he is NOT an elite receiver and is overrated. Unless he has a Antonio Brown or Julio Jones type year, let him go after 2017. Sorry, just not a big fan of the guy.

Right there with ya, brudda.

OBJ was -5 yds last season on screens. Obviously, strength and breaking away from DBs on contact isn't his strong suit, as great as he is.

Edit -- original post should say "screen" not "slant," OBJ killed the slant route.

You're entitled to your opinion, Shuff. No need to be sorry. :)

You're wrong, imo, but no need to be sorry :muttley:

I agree with this to a certain extent. Either he is not being used right by this staff or he just does not know how to utilize the full route tree. Not sure. Even with the numbers he puts up, they feel empty at times. I don't know if he's overrated but I would not say he is elite by any stretch. For one, he is too injury prone.

Also, this team does not need him to win. That's the biggest thing to me that stands out. In the games he missed last year, Dak and this offense looked their best and the most efficient. Spreading the ball around to everyone and more in a groove. Not only did we not miss a beat, we looked better. He will obviously make you big plays but I don't think he is as valuable as some claim.

Has Julio Jones EVER had a 16 TD season like Dez had in 2014? In a run first offense at that? The grass is always greener tho

In the past, some claimed Dez's route tree was only three plays, so four would constitute progress, right? It's a process! :)

In all seriousness, running a "full route tree" is one of the most overrated things in football. All you need is three routes and Dez has three that he runs as well as anyone in the league. He is the best WR in the league on slants.

Amen. The funds wasted on this one underachieving over rated sizzle player could rent or otherwise obtain 2 outstanding defensive players. He needs to go and soon...after this season. To win a SB, AND the Cowboys are close, they need to rid themselves of Bryant and more importantly...Garrett. then its off to the SB.

I think they limit Dez in order to get him to run the route correctly. I've even noticed that they seem to have a plan to get him ready for a big catch by throwing him a short easy throw within a few plays before they go to him on a more difficult catch. I've just noticed that since Linehan has been here.

No you haven't "noticed" this. You've invented it.
