The point is he wasn't asked to and there's a different pressure at having to do it when the game is on the line.
Thats the type of pressure Rodgers thrives on. We weren't winning that game unless we ran down the whole clock

That was a catch. I can't be convinced otherwise. As you said, Dez made a football move and tried to reach for the end zone. But the rule back then was confusing for the refs. But if you want a worse call, remember the Calvin Johnson play that was called a non-catch in the end zone?

What I want to know is why Romo threw a low percentage bomb on 4th and 1 when they needed to run off more clock before scoring.

That’s never mentioned.

Burn another two minutes, make GB use their TOs, and just maybe….maybe…you stop Rodgers from getting a FG.

Edit….in real time I thought it would be overturned. His arm wasn’t under the ball, although that didn’t stop me from heaving my phone across the room and smashing it once the ruling came down lol.
I always mention it. That gets lost in the discussion…should’ve rode that run game to the red zone. Too much has to go right for Dak to make that throw.

Our best chance to make the NFCCG and probably the SB in the last 29 years. And of all people to win the challenge - the guy who now can't successfully do challenges or manage the clock for the Cowboys.
I thought our 2007 team had a better chance. As a matter of fact, the Giants were asked who their toughest test was during their Super Bowl run and the said without a doubt it was the Cowboys

We had beaten them twice that year. We had homefield advantage throughout.....13 - 3. TO, Glenn and Crayton. Fasano and Witten. Barber and Julius Jones. Ware, Ellis and Spencer as edge rushers. Spears, Hatcher, Ratliff in DT rotation. Forgot who the LBs were. And of course Romo. Tough, tough, tough not to see that team advance

Ok.

Ill bite.

Did Cobb make his catch that led to a FG? They called it a catch when it clearly touched the ground. That game the Cowboys got screwed regardless of the catch/no catch by Dez. Murrays fumble didnt help matters.
Yep. That game was clearly rigged by the refs.

What part of the rule wasn’t met?

1. Control?
2. Two feet down inbounds?
3 Time to make a football move?
He had to maintian control throughout the process, he did not, falling forward is not a football move...I said it before the play was even reviewed that it was going to be overturned per the NFL rule...

The rule at the time:
"Item 1: Player Going to the Ground. If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete."

It was the correct call with the rules that were in place at that time.
How when he made multiple football moves between the time he caught the ball & between the time it squirted loose after he was down by contact?

If the defender had knocked the ball out of his hand between the time of the catch & going down, wouldn't they have ruled it a catch & fumble? Particularly if GB recovered. I think the only objective, honest answer is yes.

How did he get on against the Vikings on Sunday with the game on the line?

He's an amazing QB but nothing is certain.

On the last drive in the 2014 playoff game he threw a pass that was tipped which very fortunately landed in Cobb's hands.

We don't know what would have happened for certain.

I think the Cowboys would have needed the 2 point conversion and the Packers would have likely got a field goal so overtime was arguably on the cards.
Look...I hate Rodgers as much as the next Cowboys fan, but it would've taken a miracle to get GB off the field without scoring late in that game.

The game flipped on the Murray fumble. That was their chance to go up 2 scores and provide the cushion needed to probably make it to the finish line with more points than GB.

I was there, and I was the only Cowboys fan in my section.... and every Packers fan in my vicinity thought it was a catch.
As did every fan of every team that I spoke with. No one, no matter their feelings toward the Cowboys thought it was anything but a terrible call.
