Dez himself says he'll miss time if no deal

Does anyone remember the Green Bay receiver that held out because he wanted a long term deal, the fans of Green Bay ridiculed him, the media talked about it, Brett Favre got involved. He signed his franchise tender, then; if I'm correct blew his knee out in the first or second game of the season. I don't think he ever got the long term deal he would have had that not happened. So now people are mad at Dez for making sure he maximizes his earning potential while he can, well the Packers sure weren't willing to go back and say "ok you played on your tag and blew out your knee, we'll take care of you". So why should anyone playing put themselves in that position without going for broke. Everyone needs to let Dez handle Dez and if its such a non issue go tell your own boss you'll take a pay cut because you want to give the company a break.

So how about the cowboys play similar games. release vet players at the last possible moment to screw them, or threaten that they will do so. the cba allows it, just as it allows Dez to hold out until week 10 to screw the employer.

That's what I was talking about, and I have a feeling you'd be in the small minority in that case. And yeah, if his sitting out lead the 'team' to lose a few important games, he's not going to get any sympathy from those guys in the locker room, I can tell you that.

No way 90% of the fanbase is with Dez. It might be 50-50 at best. People can't and shouldn't sympathize with 13m not being enough.

A lot of jobs are dangerous and none of them get paid 1/10 in their entire cumulative careers compared to what Dez can make in one season on the franchise tag.

If you can't be set for life with 13 million dollars, no amount of money is going to get you financially secure. That excuse is ridiculous.

Not necessarily. People need to stop acting like an ACL is some death blow to him.

Jeremy Maclin has two ACL tears in his life and just signed a big WR contract. So no, if Bryant makes $13MM this year and hurts his knee, that's not the last dollar he'll make in the NFL.

I think we can all agree on one thing. the cowboys do not trust Dez . and they do not want a long term deal with him unless it's a deal with very few Guarantees.Dez is not going to go for that in my opinion. so why not just trade the man and try to get something good for him. there are teams out there like the Jags who would give them their first round pick.and they would pay Dez what he wants, and everybody can move on. if you can't and don't trust a man.get him off your team. pay the man or let him go.

The Cowboys and Broncos are completely willing to franchise these two WR's at $12.83mil in 2015 and $15mil plus in 2016. That is over $28mil guaranteed and around $14mil in annual salary. That should be the negotiating floor. Why is $14.5mil or $15mil averaged annually and $35mil-$40mil guaranteed unreasonable to seek? The deal will be stretched out over many years and if you believe they will be good for another four seasons then that is $7mil-$12mil more guaranteed following you handing out $28mil in the first two years of the deal. Guaranteeing $7mil-$12mil to a 29yr. old or 30yr. old WR is not uncommon. Look at the numbers Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson and Fitz just received at their ages. Not to mention the cap will continue to increase as will the amount of money each club must pay in salary to players.

Wish the sides would get something done. Sigh...

Not referring to career ending injuries though erod. What about a player coming off a torn ACL or torn pec or tricep or tendon? Ownership would rightfully use that injury in negotiations.

As for the back spasms, they don't seem to be causing too much trouble with Dez just watching him play and seeing the numbers he puts up.

He'll be he second highest paid receiver in the NFL this year. It's not like he's not getting paid.

And for about $400,000, he can buy an insurance policy to protect the $15 million he'd make on the franchise tag next year.

That's $27 million guaranteed even if he only plays one more NFL game in his life.

The idea is that you get a discount if you guarantee more money. DAL is taking all the risk with no reward at 14m a year with 30-40m guaranteed

Yep.his name was Javon Walker. and he was one of the best young WR's in the NFL. once he tore that knee up, he never got any big money. a few years later he was out of the league. Dez has to look after himself and his family.
