Which of the perhaps dozen poor decisions he's made since joining this team is he talking about?

Schlereth summed up my feelings on the topic pretty well, I viewed it as a opportunity to set a different tone:

Schlereth went off on Bryant during"SportsCenter" Thursday, criticizing both his handling of the injury and the Cowboys' team culture.

"At what point are you going to quit making excuses for bad behavior?" Schlereth said."At what point, as an organization, are you going to quit enabling people to behave this way? That's not— I mean, it's not you're passionate, and that's what we heard Jason Garrett say. 'Oh, it's passion. He's so passionate.' No. That's selfishness.

"You have 52 other guys on that roster who count on you. You're one of the leaders of that football team. You got a bunch of young guys that are trying to learn how to be professionals. And as I always say, just because you play a pro sport, it doesn't make you a professional. That's as unprofessional as you can possibly be in Year 7 in your career."

"You don't have his phone number? You can't go to his house and drag his lazy butt out of bed?" Schlereth continued. "I mean, at some point as an organization, I look at my organization and say, 'You know what? The people who run this organization, they don't practice what they preach.' They talk about integrity. They talk about character. They talk about all these things they say that matter. But bottom line is, when somebody questions their authority, they cower in the corner like a child. That's what this organization does."

Not exactly what Jones wants to hear, but Schlereth does have a point. Under Jones since the start of the 2010 season, the Cowboys own a record of 48-51. Add that to Jones' history of enabling players with questionable character, and it's hard to argue Schlereth is off the mark with his analysis.

It's actually very common.
Yes, it is and the male of the species is notorious about avoiding medical attention and specifically, prevention.

On the flip side, why did this need to be made public? Doesn't this fall under the "team business" area and should have just been kept in house instead of this blowing way out of proportion and the local media getting it's nose bent out of shape? If it is not deemed public knowledge by the league, why not just keep it all in house and then he doesn't have to answer to anyone but the coaching staff. They would have put him on the injury report as questionable and that's enough.

I think this was made public becuase Dallas media is mad that Garrett talked to 49ers media about the injury instead of them, so they are trying to put something out that hurts both Garrett and Dez...

Why aren't we keeping it under wraps how dysfunctional we are?!

There is a difference between being elusive, which Emmitt was, and being in the grips of a defender and just dropping due to fear of injury. Smith DID NOT do what you say, he did not just drop to the ground once he was wrapped up.

Do not revise history to make some odd point. We are talking about fighting for yards here, not how elusive a player can be. Dez has, many times, fought and gain crucial yards.

Wow, try reading what I wrote.

Emmitt knew what a play offered, so he would run out of bounds to avoid a hit, he would dive underneath people to get down before he took a shot head on. However, if there were more yards to be had, he'd make a move to try and spring free.

Guys like Adrian Peterson (and Zeke, I'm afraid) simply won't do that. They'll go head-to-head with anybody, even if there's really nothing there to be had. That shortens careers and causes unnecessary injuries, not to mention fumbles.

Give Dez a break (no pun) I fractured my leg at age 12 very near my knee... My knee swelled to the size of a football and was full of fluid. A competitor like Dez doesn't want anyone seeing that, or a MRI of it. We are all aware where he comes from, and fear of loosing his ability to play what he loves back to back years was just too much to take. So he reverted back to how he had to handle his problems in the past. I knew what was up when he was M.I.A for that MRI and I told my wife the same. Sure enough, that's what it was.... Chalk it up as continued learning and then maturing from his mistakes.... soon we all will enjoy his great skill again because you know what makes him do stupid Stuff like that, makes him the great player he is! Passion, love for the game and the Dallas Cowboys! X

Emmitt had that, "slow train coming, fluid, dink and dunk outta traffic" thing going on,

There isn't another player on the team where practically every season Garrett has had to address the media saying they made a poor decision. I'll tell you someone who's probably thinking they made a poor decision, it's Jerry for signing Dez to that big contract. Since Dez signed that contract he's only caught 42 passes for 551 yards and 4 TD's. He scored 6 TD's as a rookie in only 12 games. It won't be long before the media starts looking at his numbers prior to signing his new contract and after. His latest injury is likely to lead to back to back down seasons for him.

I mean injuries couldn't possibly play a role in that right? We aren't talking about muscle pulls we are talking about broken bones here, these aren't nagging injuries they are 2 big injuries now. How can you possibly even think Jerry is even thinking that?

Could you please tell me what bad decision you are talking about?
6,000 yards, 60 TD in 87 games.

Why would they try and sign this player long term, right?
