So you guy wanted them to stop throwing Dez the ball.....so in return they gave you a bunch of 2 yard routes from Witten to tickle your fancy. Dez isn't the problem. I don't care what any of you say. The routes he's asked to run is laughable. Beasley and Terrance as well. Sure, these guys are flawed.....but this route tree is elementary. Dak wants to throw to open receivers......none of them are open now....yet, we are shocked why we are struggling.....

No he isn't. The QB is the most important position on the field. How he plays effects the whole team.

Dez isn't the problem on offense. You put a QB who can place the ball where it needs to be placed and he's back to being a pro bowl receiver. Dak's ball placement and general accuracy on anything over 10 yards is atrocious.
Horse crap Dak hit him right where Dez likes the ball down by the end zone and Dez dropped it like he has many other times this year he totally missed timed is jump
The guy is a shadow of the receiver he once was before the big payday
We don't have a number one receiver on this team and I'm not sure we even have a number two
Combine that with a great tight end whose day has passed him by and you got no receiving threats at all
Beasley is the only decent receiver on the team and teams I have taken him away because there is no other threat ridiculous

Dez is not the problem. Dak is not the type of QB that complements the skillset of Dez. If anything, Dez has been an awesome teammate in regards to not throwing fits. He never really got much of any separation even a few years back with Romo.

The blame everyone but excuses absolutely amaze me. The previous not to be named QB never seemed to have a problem connecting with Dez.

Dak is the RG3 of the Dallas Cowboys. If they don't have an open competition for QB next year they won't catch Philly or Washington for years to come.

3 catches
5 targets
37 yards
$70 million dollar contract

In yet another game we needed him to ball out, he came up short.

Dallas needs to strongly consider severing ties with Dez this summer and draft a WR1.

Mike Irvin, Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, etc. could get open if Jerry was the offensive coordinator.

Must have a legit #1 WR or Belichick as head coach.

This is true. Dez dropped a pass that when he was younger, he makes that catch all the time.

That dropped TD was two plays before Dak’s first Int. And would have made it a one possession game.

The truth is. Dez is not an elite WR anymore. He is a receiver that relies on making contested, acrobatic catches. And he isn’t making those catches consistently anymore.

If the WR1 is the greatest route runner within 10 yards then I agree.

I see Dez getting open despite the terrible route running. I don't know what you guys are watching. He's open at times and either Dak doesn't have enough time to get him the ball or he's not looking his way. Randy Moss would fail in this offense.

Make no mistake, Romo made this offense what it was. Its always been bad. It was good enough for Romo....a vet, gunslinger who did what he could to extend plays. Dak's a young qb and he's not a gunslinger. I don't even think Tom Brady could function in this offense.

Dez has been dropping the types of balls that people want Dak to throw as well.

Dak threw a TD pass exactly where Dez usually wants them. And he dropped it.

If Dez isn’t going to make those kinds of catches consistently, and he isn’t going to get seperation by running great routes. Then he isn’t worth 15 mil a year.

All WRs are open a some point in their route. Mike Irvin has talked about getting open at the right time. Beasley said anybody can get open but the hard part is being open at the right time.

Also, Dez drops balls.

Even Romo stated, just because Dez doesn't look open, he's open. Dez has never been a player that got separation in man coverage, he is a guy who beats his corner when attacking that ball. That has always been his game.

The guy at his peak was a 4.5 runner.

Healthly Romo has not played with Dez in many years. His one trick of going up and out-muscling DBs for the ball is gone with age and injuries.

Dez drops contested footballs due to no separation from these predictable routes. I don't know how you guys can't see it. The corners know exactly what routes they are running.

Part of that is because can only run about 3 routes according to many current and ex players.

The scheme does not help.

There is one thing about this post I have to disagree with.

Dez used to be able to get behind cornerbacks when being single covered. He did it a lot when he was younger. We just didn’t see it that often because he often had a safety over the top.

Now he is slower and doesn’t have a safety over the top. And isn’t able to get behind the corner.

I like Dez. I still want him on the team. Just not with his current contract.
