Dez is a good player but he's not one of the best of all time

I think that Dez is a great weapon for the Cowboys and I am glad that we have him on our team at this point. However, many posters seem to be lauding him as one of the best receivers of all time. I don't see how a person could say that at this time, although he does seem to be getting better the longer he is in the league.

I am looking for objective discussion about where he ranks as a Cowboys receiver, all time. Personally I can think of several players who are arguably better than him which would likely include Michael Irvin, Drew Pearson and Bullet Bob Hayes. I am sure there are several others that we could throw in there as well. Thoughts?

I think that dez is the most gifted receiver physically anyone has ever seen. As we saw early this week Dez is beating Calvin Johnsons stats for his first 3 years by a lot. If Dez keeps maturing in his game and route running he could possibly be a top 10 receiver in history.

Those other WR have a bit of an unfair advantage in that they played and their careers are done and Dez is just starting. Kind of hard to compare Dez to Irvin or Pearson for all we know Dez may end up being the greatest WR in Cowboys history we will not know that until time has passed

But he's certainly the most physically gifted WR the Cowboys have had. Bar none.

Dez has the potential to be the best Cowboys receiver of all time. He has more tools than either Pearson, Irvin or anybody else. But we can't draw any conclsions until his career is over. He likely has another decade to play, barring injury.

In terms of talent, no Cowboys WR is better. Same thing can be said for ceiling, especially now that throwing the ball 50 times a game is the norm. But there is no point in even ranking him right now because there are probably 10 WRs who have had better Cowboys careers than him.

Can you give examples or links? I don't think anyone on this board said he was one of the best receivers of all time.

Johnson is bigger and Julio might be taller and faster, but Dez has this unexplainable athletic freakness that has something to do with body control and just pure coordination in all parts. I'm sure I'm biased here, but I think when you say "athletic" he takes the cake.

Even Irvin would admit he didn't have those tools. But Irvin had an insane drive. Dez seems to be picking it up, but I'm not sure if he will ever match Irvin in that regard.

Suffice to say he's in the conversation for top 3 WR and he's only 24. I'm not sure anyone has tried to say best of all time?

Dez is better than Bob Hayes. All he had going for him was his speed. Irvin has said multiple times that Dez is much more talented than he was. Drew Pearson could never go up for the ball like Dez can. He's well on his way to be the all time best Cowboy receiver. He's not there yet though.

In Michael's prime, he was the best in the business. Dez isn't close to being the best.
