He’s had 3 bad seasons in a row but this last one he actually led the league in Drops, that’s a tough pill to swallow for one of his biggest fans....

Not really..

It would be shocking if Dez consistently lead the league in drops again. It doesn't worry me at all.

Should we pay Dez for what he brings now? That's the million dollar question. I say we don't. If Dez wants to stay for less money, then sure, I'll put up with his crying on the sidelines.

That's your opinion. It may be accurate.

On the other hand, Dez could go to Green Bay and ***** and whine in Rodger's ear, run piss poor routes, lead the league in drops again, become a malcontent cancer and getting frozen out by Rodgers. Its all conjecture unless it happens.

I think we are getting a hell of a lot closer to figuring out how he will do somewhere else. His days may be numbered here. June 1 cut maybe.
As you well know, I've been a longtime critic of Dez around here and have born the brunt of many dogpiles for doing so. LOL

Dez has severe limitations, but when properly understood by a QB on how to use him, he's a handful. Rodgers, Brady, Brees, and a few others could definitely bring him back to life.

That scrub had the best yards per target in the league, and still 65% catch rate. We blew it with Butler. Should have thrown to him more. Should have extended him. Now some other team is going to get a good WR for cheap.
" A good WR? He couldn't beat out Terrance the body catcher Williams for the 2 spot.

Your response doesn’t correlate with my previous post so I don’t understand your point. Are trying to say year 4 is going to be a major bounce back year for Dez?

No..

You were pointing to Dez's drops as a cause of concern. His ability to catch a football is the least of my worries.

Bounce back in year 4? Probably not unless it's on a different roster.

I still believe Dez can dominate but not in a Jason Garrett system with a QB who isn't good at getting any WR the ball that plays outside the hashes. I think any WR in the NFL has a huge drop off in our current situation though.

If Romo were still his QB he'd be headed to canton after retirement.

I think Dez is also the franchise leader in completely whiffing on catch attempts and getting hit in the face mask with the ball.

They went with the guy they had just signed a new contract with, instead of the guy on a 1 year deal. Not surprising, particularly for Garrett, who likes to stick with the same old, same old.

Butler's per target numbers speak for themselves, and Williams' numbers don't include the tipped balls for INT.

To me, if you need a QB to do 1 type of throw, for you to be able to catch the ball, you aren't very good. Not sure why people keep using this excuse to say he's good. The good receivers can do it with an even worse QB. Fitz being an obvious example. He doesn't need a certain type of throw to catch it.

Terrible example...

Just last season we saw Fitzgerald being blanketed by Scandrick (of all people) and he still went up to make the catch. Fitzgerald had literally zero separation on that play and the QB still threw him the ball...

This is why our passing game (Dez) sucks now.. our QB is gun-shy and although you throw less INTs , you leave alot of plays on the field..

Just wanted to remind people calling Dez a scrub, that Dez is the Dallas Cowboys all time TD leader for receiving.

Yes his last few years have less than ideal and yes his contract is pretty high but the guy still got 900 yards with Daks crappy season.

Get over it. Dez done. Wrong kind of receiver for this team and this QB.

I agree that our scheme is outdated but that doesn’t make Dez drop passes that touch his hands, it almost seemed intentional it was so bad this year. He’s been injured 3 years in a row and it appears to have affected his ability to focus on the catch. Can’t blame Dak either, if the ball is touching his hands, that’s on him....

Jason Garrett offense. He pigeon holes all of the WRs routes so any WR will need the QB to do 1 type of throw.

Yeah, Palmer isn't great, but he would have worked pretty well for Dez. One of the QBs with touch and placement. He put the ball where Fitz and only Fitz could get it.
