I think Dez is also the franchise leader in completely whiffing on catch attempts and getting hit in the face mask with the ball.
There were a lot of drops this year from different receivers.

That happens when the receivers have no idea where to expect the ball to be.

When you let the ball go entirely through your arms and legs without touching it, I am not sure they can call that a “drop”. That is some little league right fielder effort our $12.5 million dollar man displayed. Makes giving him that big contracts worth it to laugh at him and watch Dezzies get all excited when he does hold onto the ball, since catching the ball has become an accomplishment for him .

" A good WR? He couldn't beat out Terrance the body catcher Williams for the 2 spot.
Meaning you trust this coaching staff's judgement. Despite Witt still getting nearly 100% of snaps while he's pushing a wheelchair and their stale upon stale playbook.

Weak as hell, my man. The receivers are professionals too. Even if the QB is off. If it's there to catch, catch it. Dak can throw to light, throw to darkness and throw to nothing, but if it's catchable- catch it.

That's their job.

Let's just put where the goats can get it......Dez is the Poster Child for ALL the issues that are being masked for this team placing winning as a premium.

How and why does Brice Butler being called a good receiver, have anything to do with me trusting the coaching staff? I don't think you read the post I replied to.

Dez made more incredible catches than every other WR on the team combined

I wonder if he's also all time leader in drops, sideline tantrums, and taking games off.

I think lots of WR’s would have matched or surpassed those stats with the insane amount of targets he received.
Especially targets inside the 5-yard line Garrett and Linehan we're both out to prove passing is better than running and Dez and Romo were the beneficiaries

Romo admitted during a telecast he would throw on running looks sometimes to pad touchdown numbers. He said Murray would come to they sidelines and say “I thought that was the running look” and Tony would respond “Oh, was it?”. He said if QBs don’t do that they should because it is a good way to get a few extra TD passes.

In the AFC Championship game, Romo was talking about how Bortles needed to do more than he did all game long when NE narrowed the lead late in the game. He said this despite repeatedly claiming Bortles was playing the game of his life. Romo mentioned the Jaguars need to use their best 3rd down plays on 1st and 2nd downs.

Listening to Romo made me understand why were throwing the ball in the red zone and throwing it on 1st and 2nd downs late in games when most people felt running was the correct option.

Not trying to knock Romo (so no need for Romo to be defended by anyone who feels he is being slighted). It just made me understand why we did things when he was QB.

Seems odd that every receiver would have the drops at the same time.

Just wanted to remind people calling Dez a scrub, that Dez is the Dallas Cowboys all time TD leader for receiving.

Yes his last few years have less than ideal and yes his contract is pretty high but the guy still got 900 yards with Daks crappy season.

He should be the leader. League rules have made it a pass happy league. He is not a scrub at all but he is vastly overpaid. He also is a massive underachiever given his physical gifts. He is getting older and never had much between the ears so savvy won't work like it would for other veteran receivers. The arrow is pointing down. The reality is that Dez has, by far, the worst contract on the team and it would be wise for the team to move on.

When an 8 year "veteran" catches the ball in a crucial game, holds the ball in one hand like a loaf of bread and then fumbles it which results in a TD for the other team that is a dumb WR who lets things get in his head. No excuse for that garbage. The only thing worse is a HC NOT benching him.

I am going to respectfully disagree. His hands may not be an issue, but something is. He has not been the same since 2014 and it is not just the QB. It started with Romo in the very first game of 2015 against the Giant

I'll grant you his "hands" may not be an issue, but something is. I'll take Dez at his word and accept that he has been playing through injuries and has been mentally impacted like the mentioned after the 2015 and 2017 seasons.

This started in 2015, and while most people blame that year on Cassel and Moore, it started in week 1 with Romo as QB and even continued when Romo came back against the Dolphins and Panthers. In that short amount of time playing with Romo, Dez dropped a wide open pass on 3rd down which would have set up 1st and goal in week 1 against the Giants, had a miscommunication in the red zone on a blitz where Romo got on him for not cutting in front of the defender on an interception, and then dropped a TD pass early in the game in the front corner of the end zone against Norman. To boot, the Panther game was the game he was arguing with Norman instead of trying to prevent a pick 6.

In 2016, Dez didn't have many "drops" but he also stopped coming down with balls that we have grown accustomed he make plays on...winning physical battles with DBs. He started looking for flags are arguing with officials. The Cleveland game was sort of a turning point for him in the season. He was frustrated with officials, he loafed on a 3rd down play instead of blocking for Dak who was scrambling for the first down, and got frustrated in the 4th quarter of a blow out game because Dak threw the ball to Witten instead of Dez on 3rd and long. After the incomplete pass, Dez walked to the end zone, threw up his hands in frustration and looked towards the sky. After this game, Dez's attitude changed for the remainder of the year and got back on track. Even in his horrible game against the Giants where he slipped causing an interception and fumbled late in the game, his head was still in the game.

This past year, he continued to drop balls and not come down with catches that aren't classified as drops, but balls that you would expect Dez to catch most of the time. Those difficult catches are part of the reason why he got the big contract he got.

I'm not unrealistic. I understand drops are going to occur, but drops are mistakes and I don't excuse mistakes. I will acknowledge them as mistakes just like everything else that occurs but hurts the team's chances of winning like interceptions, penalties, fumbles, etc. TWill had 0 drops in the 2016 regular season but had a drop in the playoff game against GB. That drop was the main mistake in the only 3 and out drive we had that day on our way to a 21-3 deficit. TWills hands are also not an issue, but that drop hurt and I want as few of them as possible from every receiver. I want as few mistakes as possible from all players. I think we can all agree on that.

It is real simple

He broke his foot in 2015

In 2016 and 2017 he is working with a new QB...... they haven't gelled like he did with Romo

The skill-set hasn't changed.... he was never a speed guy

I can see that. I dislike seeing him get distracted by jawing with CB's and his stomping on the sidelines, but who am I to say it's all bad, or good?
I don't know...

If they keep him, fine. I want him to be the best Dez he can be and that's a formidable concept.
If they cut him, I look forward to seeing where he goes and how he does. It will be very interesting.
