If Dez is in the lineup for Cassell's first game Weeden is REALLY going to be pissed.

All he has to do is tell Weeden to review the game tape from last year's Arizona game.

If I am Dez and my first game back Weeden is under center, then I'm mad!

Did those guys have professional training staffs that were responsible for their short and long term health?

No - and I'm in no way relating this to Dez and his situation - my response was more for somebody who might be amazed that Dez would be out this early trying to come back. It's just what you want to do at that age whether you're getting paid or not.

Here's something I wonder about - does the training staff take another MRI to visually see if the bone is healed or do they just know that this many weeks accounts for this much healing?

JG has said specifically it isn't a toughness thing. Either the bone will be healed or it won't be.

Let's not kid ourselves. Players oftentimes return before they're fully healed. There's a fine line between being being ready and not quite being there. It's easy to misinterpret the signs in a pinch. It happens all the time.

I sense this is sarcasm, but sometimes you just don't really know.

Not at all...I am very serious. There is no way he will be 100% if he takes the field against the Giants...but in the event he does not do any further damage over the next 4 - 6 games...he will be a lot closer to 100% by the last 4 games of the season. And all I am saying is they should take every preventative measure to ensure he does not do any further damage of the next 4 - 6 games.

How do you know he's not 100 percent? You don't. There's no way in the world the Cowboys will allow him to take the field if he isn't. Do you really believe the Cowboys and their medical staff is that stupid? If he's fully healthy you don't put any limitations on him. Why do that if he's ready to play without any? That makes absolutely no sense. Injuries happen and you can't prevent them in this league. They will happen regardless. If Dez gets hurt again he'll get hurt, but they aren't gonna trot him out there if he's not completely healthy.

Not with this kind of injury. The bone has to heal completely before it heals. I don't understand what is so difficult about that. Garrett said it. He's not playing if that bone doesn't heal. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Absolutely. They likely are taking weekly MRI's/x-rays to see how the bone is healing. When there is no longer a visible fracture, I imagine the doctors will say he is "healed" and will clear him. They wont just rely on the time estimate.

I broke my ankle in a motorcycle wreck and only had a cast on for 5 to 5 1/2 weeks. I was 45 when that happened. Of course I didn't go out and play professional football afterwards either. But, Dez is a world class athlete at the peak of his physcal life with the best medical care that can be had. I'm sure these people know what they're doing.

So if the cowboys will NOT let him play until the bone is 100% healed...then we should not worry about him suffering the SAME injury?

Like I said Dez could get reinjured at any time or could be a different injury.

Romo could as well. Should we limit him to 15 passes when he returns?

I can PROMISE you they will gradually increase Romo's exposure

Simple x-rays will indicate callus formation, and an MRI would then be used to assure complete confluence at the fracture site.

My opinion is that if the doctors clear him, let her rip. Just don't go by what Dez is saying. He will want to play for sure and would go out there too early.

That just shows his immaturity. ;)
