The OP asked a reasonable question, would you rather have Dez or OBJ and his asking price of 20M per season? We all know we’re not going to acquire OBJ but the question was would you “rather” have him and his asking price instead of Dez? You said you would take OBJ all day long. Did you not read the question? Did you not consider his injury history?

Not many if any are going to take OBJ all day long over Dez for 20M per season with his injury history, plus he’s a head case. Some of the rants I’ve seen from OBJ on the sidelines are worse than any sideline rants I’ve seen from Dez. OBJ’s on the field frustration can boil over into borderline insanity at times.

The question was a multiple choice would you rather have Dez or OBJ and his asking price of 20M per season? You weren’t given the option of neither. As I mentioned in my first post I would love OBJ’s speed and game breaking ability but he’s missed too many games with injuries to fork over 20M per season. The guy is injury prone and could be done in the next two or three years. I’ll take Dez and whatever his pay cut is over a 20M per season receiver who can’t stay on the field. We’re getting screwed as it is with Dez’s contract. We don’t need to go from bad to worse.
 
Victor Cruz was terrific before he suffered an injury. He had a 1500 yard season in 2011 before an injury ruined his career. OBJ suffered two injuries last season and the last one kept him out the rest of the year. Injuries have been mounting up on him the past few seasons and that’s a red flag.

No guarantees he returns the same player from his latest injury. It’s pretty alarming the number of injuries he’s had his first four years in the league. No way does he get 20M per year with the injury concerns he carries. The Giants saw what happened with Cruz.

Do we have to choose:
OBJ at 20M per vs Dez on his current contract.

OR

OBJ vs Dez at the same price.


OBJ is way better than Dez but I wouldn't want him at 20M per and a big contract with massive guarantees.

OBJ 1-year, 20M vs Dez 1-year, 12.5M is an easy choice in favor of OBJ but I would prefer neither at Zero dollars.

I would see if Allen Robinson would sign a 1-year deal because he missed last season and might maximize his value next year.
 
Neither. Both are overrated and immature.

Elite receivers are the Julio Jones', the A.J. Greens, and the Antonio Browns of the NFL. Those are the kind of guys the Cowboys need. Dez is past his physical prime and Beckham, though an elite athlete, is a whiny me-first crybaby that showed his true colors before getting hurt last year.

I’ve always kinda bought into this but the more time that goes by the more clear it is.


In salary cap football it just doesn’t make sense to spend a bunch of resources on a WR.

Spend the money on defenders, Oline, and QB.

Heck stud TEs are actually showing a correlation here lately.

I agree, Dez is not a punk. I've been tough on him on this forum lately, but I don't hate the guy. I hate the fact he's now the second highest paid player on the roster and his production has not matched.

Dez was never a very good route runner. He relied on his size and burst to succeed. That burst and acceleration is gone now. The Cowboys have to do something with his contract or move on. That's the cruel business the NFL is today.

When i was asking to compare gronks injury history with wittens reliablility what a difference a week makes LOL

OBJ fits what dak does better at this moment ---- I love Dez but may have to lean OBJ way since Obj can get open on his own ---- i think he is a better fit for Dak

Looking at it without my Dez Bryant Bias LOL

On skill and athleticism that will help this team now - OBJ. Unfortunately he's a basket head and can bring the whole team down. I'd rather have Dez at this point but at a pay cut.
 
Dez over OBJ all day. But I like Cheerios not Fruity Pebbles.
