I'm not worried about his bone. At the moment he has zero chemistry with Cassel in practice. At least Cassel has been able to work with other guys for about 3 weeks now.

Dez isnt one of those guys that needs extra work with a new QB. Do you remember when Kitna came in? Dez dominated. He elevates the play of the QB. Sure him and romo have numerous reps together, but im not worried about him gelling with a new QB. Didnt he gel with Kitna, yes John Kitna, in his second year? Or was it his rookie year?

Is it? I'm not being a smart A at all, I just don't understand how it works.

It's odd they mention bone scans "getting better" - I feel like it's either knitted together or it's not. Any medial specialists in this area know the facts? (you might be, I don't know)

Reach down and push hard on your first metatarsal, then imagine that broken and healing. It'll give you pause.

If he is close to 100% and wants to play-- play him. This offense can only be improved with a WR like Dez on the field. Just monitor his foot and if you need to-- limit his snaps.

You can't play football scared. If the bone is healed and he is medically cleared-- get him back out there.

They can (hopefully) be smart here too. Motion him left, have him cut upfield on the good foot, crossing route on the good foot, etc. Just don't call 15 yard stops when he's on the right side. If they can get him one or two catches early, or get him free for a downfield route just to scare the safeties, it could take a lot of pressure off our running game even if they limit his snaps.

It's not about pain tolerance, running, or cutting. It's about how solidly that bone has healed and how much stress it can take.

Nope....he has received full medical clearance already. If he reinjures it, it won't be because of a lack of healing. It's more likely he'd injure something else that he might be using to favor the foot based on pain.

Yep. I don't doubt Dez is a tough guy. I just don't want him to overestimate himself and end up breaking it again. That's why I'd prefer to see him rest until it's fully healed.

He has medical clearance to resume conditioning. That bone will continue to heal even in the offseason. In fact, bones tend to over heal.

Anyone who doesn't think it's key to rush him back at some level as long as he has medical clearance hasn't been watching our offense. If he waits much longer, his healthy presence later won't matter anyway...he can heal all off season.

If the doctors have cleared him and it's just about pain and swelling, not about the bone itself, then take a shot, tape it up, and get out there!

They've already given him clearance based on the one scans.

Good point...but I have to wonder if the doctors would allow him to run and cut at full speed if they had any questions about how much stress the bone could take.
Would the team risk Dez missing the rest of the season by clearing him to re brake the bone.

Uh oh...Dez may actually practice today. Red said that he would begin the early part of practice on the side conditioning and never closed the door on him participating later in practice. Hmmmmmm....

That looks a whole lot more like practice than "off to the side doing conditioning work" to me.
