Bryant broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during the season open which required surgery and a bone grafting procedure. The wide receiver returned to the practice field just last week to do conditioning and rehab work with a trainer off to the side. Bryant was the recipient of a modified cleat, according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News.

"Nike re-worked Bryant's game cleats so that his right shoe is now wider than the left one. Nike made the right shoe wider for Bryant because they strengthened a plate that is already built into the outside of the shoe to better protect Bryant's foot when he returns to the field.

"Cowboys athletic trainers have been working with sole inserts this week to give Bryant some extra cushion. On Wednesday during the Cowboys' open locker room session for the media, a team athletic trainer was seen going to Bryant's locker and putting in sole inserts in both of his game cleats."

That looks a whole lot more like practice than "off to the side doing conditioning work" to me.

Me too...could be individual drills or could be off to the side playing pitch and catch. Not sure but he must be confident to be going airborne for a one handed grab.

True...it's just a snapshot, so hard conclusions can't be drawn. That said, It's a lot better than seeing him in a walking boot or working with the resistance cords.

IF he is going up and doing stuff like that, and having no issues, i have no doubt he plays Sunday. Thats 200 plus pounds coming down on that foot if he is leaping like that, not to mention the motion of jumping in the first place. I think Garrett is keeping this close to the vest and is going to surprise the Giants come sunday morning

Curious to find out if he participates even in a limited capacity today during the closed part of practice.

It's not about pain tolerance, running, or cutting. It's about how solidly that bone has healed and how much stress it can take.

Im not a smart man but if Dez is running and cutting full speed with no pain wouldn't that mean the bone is healed and it can take the stress of running and cutting

People stop with the don't rush him back bs. The team and their professional doctors know Dez case like no other. Including some of you wannabe know it alls.

If doctors cleared Dez to play that's not rushing him back that's his body healing quicker then others. Doctors give time tables all the time, doesn't mean they are exact. Chill everybody, and enjoy this *** whooping we getting ready to give the league

Sit him.

He needs more than 1 day of conditioning. There's no way he's in game day shape.

We need this game bad but there will be big problems if him and Cassel haven't prepared together. I'm talking turnover's.

I think the coaching staff is doing the right thing making this a possibility in the media as now NYG has to prepare for a Dez what if?

But I highly doubt the coaching staff is going to put him out there. I think it's worth waiting 1 more week and he's able to play the game he's able to at that time.

I'm happy to hear this positive news but if he has to compensate for that foot injury at all, that could also lead to further injury elsewhere.

1 more week is best.

You make valid points from the medical standpoint.

But the preparation standpoint as well being in game shape play large factors too.

It's no secret that players that don't train properly through the week have a higher probability of incurring injury on game days.

Not to mention the miscues due to lack of preparation and rapport with the rest of the team/game plan.

Just curious...would you recommend Dallas do the same with Romo for the Miami game and Carolina game just four days after the Miami game?

I agree with this, however, Dez is a different breed. He came into his second year and dominated with Kitna at QB. He isnt Twill who needs to build chemistry (and still sucks) this is a top 5 WR in the league, while i would love them to have some cohesion together, I think just having him out there will be good. This team hasnt had a leader on offense since week 2. Even if he is there just running around and creating mismatches for other players im happy.
