Dez: Vikings won't let that happen

The only way I see us getting Peterson is if they release him.

I still think he will be released unless they have patched things up (His agent seems to be changing his tune lately).

What are you basing this on? I would think they would have released him by now if that were the case.

I have to wonder if the Herschel Walker trade never took place with the Vikes if they'd be more inclined to do it. I think that permanently scarred that franchise and city to no end. I doubt they want to be responsible for the Cowboys winning another Super Bowl (or two) again.

The Vikes would be in a better position this round, in fact, they could partially reverse the Herschel curse and build towards the future with high round draft pics and salary cap relief.

I find this all fairly humorous. Dez isn't exactly happy with his situation in Dallas either. Has he even sign off on his franchise tag yet? Casting stones at Minnesota for not letting AP walk away just seems a bit hypocritical when the Cowboys are doing the same to him and they don't even have a contract agreement.

Kinda what I'm also hearing up here on Sports Radio programs in the Minn/ND region........that the AP camp is mellowing toward the Vikes.

If the Vikings trade Peterson to us for a 1st round draft pick, I have no doubt that we win 3 super bowls with him here. He is a top 5 player in the league on a team that has already shored up its greatest weakness, and have already improved its greatest strength.

The Vikings aren't about to commit suicide like that.

We don't want Dez to sign it.

Dez is still a Cowboy through and through. Talked to Collins on the phone and told Collins that Jerry Jones will have his back.

I think it would have the opposite effect. It was one thing for Jones to say he would consider making a move under the right circumstances than for Dez to suggest it would not be in their best interest.

I think there are many reasons why the Vikings wouldn't want to trade him to us.

1) They don't want Peterson to get what he wants.
2) They don't want to strengthen one of their chief competitors.
3) They don't want to turn us into a dynasty.
4. They're still bitter about the Walker trade.
5. They might think with their defense now, they have an opportunity with Peterson.

:hammer:

The Vikings aren't letting AP go, and definitely not to the Cowboys unless Dallas forks over a king's ransom. And that aint happening.

The Vikings aren't doing anything in 2015 with or without Adrian Peterson.

So they can pay him $13 million and be 8-8 or 9-7 in 2015 or they can trade him away and save $13 million and get an additional 1st rounder to continue to build for the future.

They can get a 1st rounder for him now, or a big bag o' nuthin' next year.

They went 7-9 last year without him.

This will live on until the regular season trade line date

by that time, I think even BP will be the head engineer on that AP train........choo chooooooo.

And the Vikings aren't going to be the NFL's martryr and get hit with a $15m hit this year and $17m hit next year to satisfy the OTHER 30 teams in the league. They are going to do what other FO do-----try to be fiscally prudent. And to absorb that amount of cap space with a player who has publicly stated he would rather be somewhere else does not sound like that to me. They will act selfishly, just like every other NFL team.

Yeah, and they beat nobody.

Swept by the two good teams in their division too, splitting only with the woeful Bears.

Take a look at their '7-9' and you can see it for the fraud that it truly is.

Every team they beat last year - outside of Carolina - was among the league's worst and was picking in the Top 10 of this year's draft, and even the Panthers finished with a sub .500 record.

If you want to make the case that you think they're better than us, Seattle, or Green Bay, I'd be interested to hear it?

June 1st cuts have been moved to May 12th, if Peterson is going to be released, it'll be tomorrow. If he's not, he's in Minny to stay.

As for things being patched up, Peterson's agent was extremely hostile and instigating just a month ago; he's now discussing how supportive Minny has been while still saying he believes Peterson needs a better contract (Can you believe that?). But yes, things seem to be calming down.

But at the end of the day, I think the determining factor is that Minny wants to get out of the contract and I don't think any team is going to take on that contract. But this is just opinion, there could be some stupid team that gives up high draft picks for him or he stays in Minnesota and every is fine.

I think it's smart business for them to move Peterson. Nobody else in the league is paying a running back $13 million, much less $15 million next year and $17 million after that. For the Vikings to keep him, only they must do that.

They either get out of this terrible deal now - and get a 1st round pick for it - or they wait a year, waste $13 million to win nothing in 2015 and release Peterson next year for nothing.

They aren't going to win anything with AP, they could be a little bitter and a lot better in the future with some high draft picks and without his cap burden.

I still think they would hold out for a trade before outright releasing him.
There is little benefit in splitting his dead money.

I'd be stunned if they just outright release him.
