At what point do the Vikings stop having leverage? What I mean is, at what point does paying a 30 yr old RB $13+ million who doesn't want to be on your team become a bad idea?
What if Peterson plays without full effort? What if he becomes a distraction in the locker room? What if he under performs? What if he gets "hurt"?
Are the Vikings assuming that Peterson will sell out on the field and off it help them?
It seems to Peterson still has cards to play in his hand. At some point he just may not be worth it.
He sounds extremely excited at the idea but believes it won't happen.

I think this is why some people still think he comes to Dallas.
I think the smarter play for the Vikes would have been to try and trade him for even a 2nd rounder and draft a RB.
Personally I dont think Peterson for $13 million is a smart deal even if he wants to play for you. I think the Vikes are letting pride get in the way of reason.
I'm not sure what to think about the fact that our QB was lobbying to resign Demarco and now our WR is making it known how good we would be if we had Peterson.
It would feel a little better if our stars believed we were good enough at RB that when asked about Peterson they would say that we have guys on the team now that are going to surprise some people.
Our owner mentions he would trade away a future number 1 for a player like Peterson.
I wish this was resolved already. It sounds like the talk will never stop. I can see after the first game if we don't come out with a big rushing day all the questions in the locker room being about Peterson again.
Yes...get him or don't...just get this crap over with cause I am tired of seeing the crap.
Was Peterson ever mentioned by Jerry Jones or did he just say he would trade a 1st round pick in the right situation?
Right situation, but I think the context is obvious by now.
June 1st cuts have been moved to May 12th, if Peterson is going to be released, it'll be tomorrow. If he's not, he's in Minny to stay.
As for things being patched up, Peterson's agent was extremely hostile and instigating just a month ago; he's now discussing how supportive Minny has been while still saying he believes Peterson needs a better contract (Can you believe that?). But yes, things seem to be calming down.
But at the end of the day, I think the determining factor is that Minny wants to get out of the contract and I don't think any team is going to take on that contract. But this is just opinion, there could be some stupid team that gives up high draft picks for him or he stays in Minnesota and every is fine.
I think it would have the opposite effect. It was one thing for Jones to say he would consider making a move under the right circumstances than for Dez to suggest it would not be in their best interest.
I think there are many reasons why the Vikings wouldn't want to trade him to us.
1) They don't want Peterson to get what he wants.
2) They don't want to strengthen one of their chief competitors.
3) They don't want to turn us into a dynasty.
4. They're still bitter about the Walker trade.
5. They might think with their defense now, they have an opportunity with Peterson.
If waht Dez Bryant says influences whether the Vikings would make a trade....would say a lot about the incompetence of that front office. I doubt this is an issue.
If the Cowboys wanted to get Peterson, my thoughts are they would have already made the move.
I think the following things might be factors though
I think it is a conspiracy against me and others who are tired of this AP talk.![]()
Unless the rules have changed, he could hold out until Week 10 and still accrue a year against his contract. So he could certainly do that if the rule is still in place.
He is using reverse psychology. By saying the Vikings won't let it happen......then the Vikings will say, oh, we will show him and prove him wrong....they will call JJ and offer a trade.....![]()
Why would he sit out?? He won't get paid.
He doesn't care about accruing service time.
He either gets 13m from MINN or gets released.
