Could you say this about Jerry Rice? We all know that Jerry was considered to be the all time best reciever. What made him great was not his athletic ability. I can tell you in my opinion is that Dez is better than Calvin in the run after the catch and in the TD department. I still have Calvin ahead of Dez but to say that Dez does not have the potential to pass Calvin is a little crazy bc if you are just looking at athletic ability then Dez has plenty of that in all areas.

Everybody thinks Dez is the best YAC reciever in the NFL. It sure <seems> that way on the field.

Here is what the stats say: much lesser WRs like Harry Douglas, Kendall Wright, and Pierre Garcon all had more YAC than Dez in 2013.

Hard to believe huh?

My general point here isn't to say that Dez isn't good after that catch, it is that he isn't quite as good as you think. Sorta goes back to my last point -- he take a lot of hits, refuses to go does, and accumulates nagging injuries that tend to slow him down -- he isn't a burner in the first place. That in turn hurts his YAC.

Question...and before I contradict myself, I should have put Julio in my 3rd tier of receivers...

But why all the love for Gordon after one year? He had a MONSTER season but to already proclaim him as the 2nd best receiver in the league?

To early to anoint Gordon after 2 seasons, but he has averaged 1225 yards per season.

That is exceptional for a guy just two years into his career.

Now consider the losers he has had throwing him the ball.

I'm not ready to anoint Gordon HOWEVER, what's not to love about his game?

Because his combination of size, speed, actual polished WR skills are readily apparent. It would be too early to anoint Alshon, but not Gordon. Unlike Alshon, Gordon has already seen coverage like the elites, and has succeeded in spite of it.

Julio is the 3rd best WR in the league, and his ceiling is extremely high. He's the one guy I would say is on par with Calvin athletically-- he's Dez Bryant but slightly bigger and a lot faster.

I've never really watched the others much. All I know is Dez is amazing. There's not many players I have seen in my time that make say "wow" as much as Dez has.

Calvin is better than Dez and AJ hands down. Dez and AJ are pretty much neck and neck. Neither have the impact Calvin does.

Calvin is just better than any other WR right now, I don't see how it can be argued right now, he's totally and completely dominant.

AJ seems like he's more polished and clean than Dez is but Dez is more physically dominant and more athletic and seems to just be a beast and won't quit no matter what. AJ seems like he's more consistent as well, Dez has disappeared at times whether that's his fault or the offenses fault or Romo (doubtful) or whatever. When I think of the Alshon/Marshall situation in Chicago, it makes getting a guy like Evans awfully attractive.

Speaking of Gordon, I remember this forum being HUGE on him and really wanting to grab him in the supplemental draft but in the third or fourth. Good job by Cleveland for stepping up and grabbing him in the second and props to the board for recognizing him.

They ran out of Dez highlights towards the end, probably because Calvin and AJ Green get alot more opportunities.

I'd still rank Dez behind Calvin.

Based on that, I suppose you think Jordy Nelson is better than Calvin Johnson too?

PFF has nice stats but their grades aren't rankings.
