But the "Dez disappeared tonight" complaint has been an ongoing one for quite a while. This is nothing new. For such a physically imposing player and such a prolific touchdown scorer, it's nothing short of shocking to witness.
Our scheme makes that impression simple though.

A couple of schemed throws like they inexplicably did with Witten several times and you get a difference impression of Bryant's overall game.

I think Bryant can do more. But it is very clear that he is used the same way, each and every game. And if the matchup is not just right, he will become invisible.

I'm amazed at the lack of respect Dez gets on this forum.. does anyone remember what our offense looked like WITHOUT him last season?

That is not a fair assessment at all.

Our offense was bad last year because we had bad Qbs. If Romo stayed healthy last year we would have had a top 10 offense without Dez.

Dez has a LOT of hype around him. But really it is not even close to these other receivers. These other receivers are not taken out of games.

Dez was taken out today. He will be taken out next week as well. Contrary to what people think, teams are not doubling him. Anytime Dez Bryant has played a top level CB he has ALWAYS lost the battle. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

He lost to Revis years ago. He lost to Norman last year. He lost to Patrick Peterson. His best game against a good CB was Richard Sherman two years ago and he had like 60 yards. He loses to good CBs all the time and he does well against the scrubs.

Oh and this guy creates the least amount of separation out of any "great" receiver in the league. He is always covered. He has average hands at best.

I actually should have seen the writing on the wall when I read things over the last two training camps on how Morris Claiborne has been able to shut him down at times in camp. Morris Claiborne? LOL! That guy is the biggest scrub/softest player on our team.

Dez got his money, and that's it. We will be looking at his contract and a year and a half to two years begging to get out of it.

He's a beast in the red zone but not a top 5 wr. Still love dez though.

I have seen much lesser players get a lot more production. Yes, he may not be smart enough to know a full route tree or fast enough or know how to get separation but that is on the coaches. He is not used properly here much like most of the other receivers. He is not put in the best position to succeed or be dominant.

We have a few who like to run backwards, not go out of bounds, not run specific routes we like or use their body to catch.......that is again, on coaching. When there is a pattern of ineptness, start looking higher up and maybe not to the players themselves.

Of course, there is always the exception to the rule and his name is Witten right now even though he is fighting father time.

I am not absolving Dez for sometimes disappearing in games but it is not entirely his fault. This offensive scheme is putrid, deplorable and downright despicable!

IMO Dez has top 5 talent. However, some games he takes himself out of the game. Other times, our own coaches take him out of the game.

Pretty easy for those other receivers to look better when they have coaches that create mismatches. Dez runs the go route. 70 percent if not more the of the game. Never out of the slot. Never in motion. He doesn't even get to run slant routes. It's ridiculous. Antonio Brown Julio obj are all good because their coaches find ways to use them and exploit the defenses they face. Dez on the other hand doesn't have those options because our hc think we are in 1990 and his scheme of out physical your opponent still works. For the record my friend. You may think he's not doubled. But most the game he has a safety over top if not. The entire game. Against Norman last year he was 1 on 1 20 percent of the time. Against Arizona he had weeden throwing to him. Against the Jets he had a touchdown and like 80 yards against Revis..if it wasn't against Revis. It was Cromartie and he scored because a mismatch was created and further illustrates my point. Against Philly 2 years ago he was moved by Romo 3 times had 3 touchdowns in the first half. This all starts at the coaching level. You give Dez Belicheck he has a superbowl in his first year and probably breaks the touchdown and yard record.

I dont think Dez is a top 5 receiver, maybe not even top 10. Im going to post the number of 100 yard games some of his peers have had since entering the league compared to Dez.

Since 2010 Dez: 13 100 yard games

Since 2014 Odell Beckham: 15

Since 2010 Antonio Brown: 25

Since 2011 Aj Green: 24

Since 2011 Julio Jones: 28

Make of it what you want, but I dont think Dez is as big a game changer as those guys
Why don't you post how many times those guys are targeted compared to Dez?

Some of the same people ripping on Dez thus far this year (last year he was hurt) are probably some of the same people who have wanted us to get rid of or trade Witten that last 5+ years. Yet Witten keeps on plugging along.

I like Dez' combination of physicality, hands, athletic ability, competitive drive. I think he's just as good as the usual suspects in the top 5 and THE BEST red zone threat in the league. It's a run first offense clearly the last couple years. He lost time his rookie year due to injury including a year ending injury. Romo's been in and out of the line up of course. Last year was what it was.. no need to get into that. He's not a target monster and doesn't get the gadget stuff (screens etc) that AB gets. I would argue that you must find more creative ways to get him involved in the offense. He was taken away too easily in the playoffs 2 years ago.

What would dez's stats look like on a team like the Patriots?

He's a top 10 receiver, and I blame the coaching for his lack of productivity.
