Dezspicable

During today's presser the point was brought up about the success rate (or lack there of) of going to Bryant so far this season and Garrett sort a said (in his own "between the lines" way) that some of the lack of success was due to factors other than Dez (the quality of the pass for instance) but in other cases... Well.

Personally I'd like to see them stop forcing the ball to the guy.
Agreed. I said I would like to see Dak stop forcing ball to him. However, 7 targets were charted as "uncatchable."

Actually it tells me Dez is facing double coverage or safety help over the top and Dak is still throwing it to him occasionally.
It also tells me your understanding of how this thing works is lacking.

Clever title though.
Sorry the content wasn't better.

You're suffering from paralysis by analysis. Keep it simple - eye test. He's not elite. Decent #2 receiver. Need huge reinforcements with our WR's.

1 v 1 coverage he cannot get separation

Beyond stupid analysis.

"Needs immaculate ball placement to even have a chance at catching it."

The data accounts for high percentage throws to RBs and guys who run short underneath routes such as Beasley and Witten. Dez averaged 16 YPC last season which was way higher than our other primary receivers. He's also utilized on plays with low-percentage success rates such as fades and 50/50 balls.

Lulz.

Funny. "Beyond stupid analysis", yet I provide stats to back my argument.

Provide something substantial before contributing a worthless assessment.

So who are the safeties covering? If they are not rolling to Dez then I guess they are rolling to T Will?
Someone on this site breakdown every play last week and reported when Dez was single covered. Look it up, read it and learn that there is more going on downfield that you are not seeing on tv.

Seriously man..your analysis sounds sad.
The proof as been presented. What you do with it is up to you. I have a pretty good feeling I know what you will do.

Dak Prescott Stats:

Targeting Dez:

Comp Pct 48.8
TD-Int. 9-4
Passer Rtg. 84.7

Targeting EVERYONE ELSE:

Comp Pct 71.7
TD-Int. 17-2
Passer Rtg. 105.1

What does the eye test tell you? Dez can't get separation. Gets owned by any half way decent corner. Needs immaculate ball placement to even have a chance of catching it. He's a horrible route runner. His route running tree consists of about 3-4 routes total. He's supposedly not the hardest worker in the locker room either.

Dez has been exposed. Garrett has been exposed since 08'. Need a real #1 receiver in the draft, and a new head coach. Should fix a lot of issues that we saw yesterday on the offensive side of the ball.
WR in 2018 draft

The routes Dez is going to run are limited and predictable. He's a weapon but a limited one unless the coaching staff uses him differently. He's easy to cover because the corners know what he is going to do based on where they line up on him. Pretty much same for the whole offense. It's been like this for years.

I did.

You ignored it.

Here's a lesson: stats without context are meaningless

The fact you get enamored with the high comp. % and don't take into account the high-percentage throws to RBs, Witten and Beasley is telling.

You're like a guy that judges a leadoff hitter by simply posting his RBI numbers.

This offense, and Daks comfort zone, isn't suited to Dez strengths. I think you put him with a QB who likes to throw up the deep ball like a Matt Stafford you'd see someone who is closer to who you saw pre 2015.

Dez is undoubtedly the best red zone threat the franchise has ever seen.

Top 2 WR all time for the Cowboys? Accounting for the fact Dez is playing in the most pass heavy era the NFL has even seen, I just don't see it.

Dez has had 3 1000 yard seasons in his 8 year career so far.

Terrell Owens, an example, had 1000+ yards each of the 3 seasons he played in Dallas.

I'm not saying Terrell Owens was a better "Cowboys WR" than Dez, I'm just saying 3 1000 yard seasons for a guy who has been in the league 8 years ain't all that special these days.

TO was awesome with the Cowboys. In contrast with Dez, he rarely got a jump ball opportunity because he blew past corners. His routes were clean and he did it all...

I'm a big Dak and Dez (my son) supporter. Dez accounted for 1 interception but stopped 2 more from being intercepted. Dak accounted for the last interception. Both are to blame for this and really need to work harder on chemistry
