No kidding? He isn't the player he was a few years ago, but would still fit on this team as a 3rd option stick mover. Hopkins and Lamb underneath/intermediate with Cooks going over the top is a nightmare matchup for most NFL defenses.
When you have legitimate threats across the board that need to be accounted for, defenses are essentially picking their poison. You can't double all three, and if the plan is to play coverage, you're leaving open running lanes for a back that can take it the distance on any given play. An effective running game opens up the play action and keeps the killers on defense fresh.
Normally I'd be against a move like this because there are younger players that need to be paid, but the stars are aligning and we have an opportunity to have great units on both sides of the ball. It's time to make a run. I wouldn't consider breaking the bank, but $10m-$12m for a possession receiver is a very reasonable offer, and I doubt he sees a better offer from a contender on the open market.
