Of course we want Emmitt's record to stand....and you can be 10000% sure that Emmitt does too. The one exception might be if one of "our own" breaks it....as in Zeke. He's a bitter old rb can't blame him for wanting to keep his record in tact. Hell we want emmitt record to stay in tact forever so I get Dickerson point. Now if Zeke can break single season rushing record then he gets laugh last
...but Dickerson neither said those comments towards Elliott nor to the interviewer in the video. What Dickerson did say in the video was that he didn't want anyone breaking his records. Additionally, he stated that to the interviewer and not to Elliott. They were just having fun. Just banter.
Also, if Elliott said he was coming after Dickerson's single season record, that's the same fun/competitive and harmless mindset.
Obviously championships count the most.
But players enjoy their records.
In all my life following football, I can never recall someone who kept up with his numbers more than Emmitt. He cared greatly about getting rushing titles, and especially the all time record.
Didnt mean championships werent the top priority.
He was still an incredible winner.
Oh, I agree....but Dickerson neither said those comments towards Elliott nor to the interviewer in the video. What Dickerson did say in the video was that he didn't want anyone breaking his records. Additionally, he stated that to the interviewer and not to Elliott.
Context should matter if people are going to react emotionally to something someone says or does.
There used to be a time when practically all media outlets matched their headlines with their content. Nowadays, a significant number of media sources does exactly what the National Enquirer once did--published flashy headlines that weakly supported the information they made available to the public.Oh, I agree.
Looks like another writer taking liberty with the facts? Unless Im missing more details.
Then readers taking it as fact--and quick to call a Hall of Fame NFL player a loser--based on words not even said
He followed it up by saying, "I hope you never do". I personally want to see Zeke break his single-season record one day, but I understand why Eric Dickerson wants to keep his records. He doesn't have any rings, so without those records he would have nothing. Here's the link to the video:

I could care less about Zeke breaking records as long as he lands rings.
Jim Brown's record of12,312 was the record and the standard by which all RBs were measured. Walter Payton broke it. Emmitt surpassed them both and is now the all time leader. What record did Emmitt break of Jim Brown's?
His talent was terrific. His attitude towards this team game, at least in my eyes is pathetic.Petty yes, pathetic? No
Hate on brother.Jim Brown's record of12,312 was the record and the standard by which all RBs were measured. Walter Payton broke it. Emmitt surpassed them both and is now the all time leader.
Does it really matter if I said Sweetness or Jim Brown? My point remains.
I don't hate anybody. And I liked watching Dickerson as a player. I just disagree with him beating a dead horse and trying to remain relevant.Hate on brother.
I bet Emmitt doesnt want a non Cowboy breaking his record either.
Not that any of them would be traumatized by it.
Whatever though. If you think Dickersons some terrible guy for wanting to keep a record, thats your right.
you mean being the most dominating player vs the Cowboys ever history?Yes they are 100% true. He has a history with the Cowboys.
I think he holds the single season record in higher regard.if you have heard enough of Dickerson, you can tell that his record = his relevance (in his mind)
I hope the Cowboys are smart enough not to run Zeke into the ground.I hope Zeke gets his single season record next year and one of the rookies (Cook or Fournette) break the rookie record.
you mean being the most dominating player vs the Cowboys ever history?
I think they Cowboys are smart when it comes to Zeke's carries (maybe a little too smart at times: No runs in Week 16, limited carries in the Packers game).I hope the Cowboys are smart enough not to run Zeke into the ground.
