I heard him on Sirius NFL Radio, and he didn't make it sound so much like he thought Norv would be a great coach here. He sounded more like a guy who was pulling for his buddy to be given yet another job. I'm sure if Wannstedt hadn't gone down in flames after Jimmy set him up to replace him in Miami, he'd be urging us to look at him too.

They asked him, if Jerry called for his advice, who does he recommend? Norv Turner, he says.

Now, if Norv calls him for advice about whether it's a good situation for him having to work under a guy like Jerry, what does he tell him? He says that working under Jerry is possible to do, but you basically have to placate him by letting him be in on your decisions. But then, after saying this, he went on to talk about how he's less proud of the coaching job he did in Dallas, and most proud of his personnel work, which he claims he spent the bulk of his time on. I somehow doubt most of this was really side-by-side with Jerry.

He defends the Jason Garrett hiring, saying it's not wildly out of line for Jerry to hire his assistants before he hires the head coach. But then he goes on to credit his own success to the fact that he was able to bring in his people to fill his staff in Dallas.

It basically sounded like he was saying something along the lines of: "Well, it worked for me, but then I got too much deserved credit for Jerry to handle, and that won't fly anymore. Don't take the job if you expect to be given the same power I had to sink or swim with my own coaches and players. Only take the job if you just really want to have the title HEAD COACH printed on your business cards."
