Did anyone else find Greg Olsen annoying?

Initially, I thought that Greg Olsen was a fairly good announcer, a new voice... seems pretty knowledgeable about football and all.

However, when he started ranting mid-game, that the Cowboys should go pass heavy for the rest of the game, I thought it was a foolish idea. The Cowboys have effectiveness in the passing game when their run game is making the defense load up in the box. Don't abandon the run game, ever!

He just kept making it a point, I found it to be annoying... anyone else think so?

He is trying to hard to be elite. He is awful. Last year he was o.k. Now he is overratted.

Lol, do you really believe that?

We've got folks who see Michael Irvin waving Cowboys pom-poms on NFLN as objective. Everyone else is a Cowboys hater.

I've seen Cris Collinsworth called a Cowboys hater. He played his entire career in Cincinnati and beat the Cowboys in blowouts the two times he played them.

But for some reason, he hates the Cowboys. Yeah, okay. :muttley:

He views the balance the Cowboys need differently than I do. Historically, if any team abandons the run in the early 3rd quarter, they'll have a greater chance of losing the game. Especially the Cowboys.

I think it was because Dak - CD was tearing it up. Do it until they stop it, or at least stop playing the run predominantly.

Exactly, I'm too busy watching the game to care about what they are saying. I'm totally focused on the game and figure stuff out myself. Then I re-watch the game again a 2nd time to really see what's going on out there.
Romo, Collingsworth, Buck n Olsen all do the same thing. They'll question obvious plays or calls in favor of Dallas. It seems subtle, but it only goes one way. It's annoying especially when a play is obvious, but they won't let it go.

If a person can't tell it's ok, we all interpret certain things at different levels.

The term “soy boy” makes me chuckle. As for the topic of the thread, does it really matter?

First off, you conveniently chopped-off my point of him having an annoying "soy boy VOICE".

Next on deck, do you defend Joe Buck when NFL posters around the league state that his voice grates on them? If you do, I'll back down.

To my ears, Olsen is on the level with Joe Buck as an assault to my ears. Do.Not.Like.

If you asked me after I watched a game, who the announcers were, I might get it right half the time.

The stuff people are complaining about are the same thing fans of other teams are complaining about. It is your bias towards the Cowboys that interprets what they are saying as always being negative for the Boys.

One of the worst color men in the Sports world.
P.S. One too many hits to the head I figure.

To me, Olsen is on the same if not worse level than Joe Buck to my ears.
You misunderstood my post. I was neutral to the usage of the term “soy boy”, and was just pointing out how it always makes me chuckle.

The rest of my post wasn’t directed at anything you said, but had to do with the OP and the topic of the thread.

Same here, i liked Olsen initially and thought he was okay....but it seems he is a closet Cowboy hater. Not too far removed from the game so still harbors some hatred i guess. Sometimes just talks too much....but seems the big Romo contract has encouraged the new color analysts to yap even into the next play. I find Aikman talkng more too.

Olsen is definitely better than 75% of the crews out there. Just like everybody in life were human, some people will just inevitably be annoying/disliked. Also you will never please everyone, especially in today's world where it is enveloped in narcissism.

He was right. Running game wasn't doing anything. The passing game was working.

However, he was completely right. After the first possession after the half, Dallas went 3 and out because of trying to run the ball. They abandoned the run and Philly couldn't stop us.

He’s horrible. Can tolerate him. Give me Romo any day.

It was funny when he said "Eagles are starting to dominate," just as Dak threw the bomb to Hilton.

Well...it was 3rd & 30 after consecutive sacks. The chances of converting were less than 5%.

I mute the TV and listen to Cowboys radio feed but even Brad Sham seems to make a lot of mistakes these days.

That’s the way to do it. Don’t get me wrong, some commentators are better than others, and some you just really enjoy, with Madden being the obvious. But I don’t get people who get so bent out of shape over the announcers. I like listening to the homer angle, the same reason way most news networks have gone with one spectrum angle for their viewers these days.

I really enjoyed the Manning Brothers on MNF too. For my home team, I want regular broadcasts, but for teams I have no stake in, it’s a cool alternative.
