Cooks was wide open in the end zone on next to last play and once again in the crunch Dak decided to throw to Tolbert who wasn’t open.
Cooks had a LBer on him and Dak never saw it.

Cooks was wide open in the endzone during the next to last play? Is that the play where Dak was being sacked at the hike of the ball because out Oline couldn't pass protect? How is Dak supposed to see any open receiver when he is being sacked?

Cooks is a slot receiver. Unfortunately for him, Ceedee is a slot receiver too and he got the #88.

This team needs guys who can play on the outside and get some targets. You can almost predict where the ball is going based on who is in the slot.
Cooks has been playing both outside and slot in his career ... this is not Cole Beasley.

its' a reason why he has a rep as one of the better speed receivers in the NFL.

No it wasn’t that play. He moved to his left with about 10 secs left in game and right into the sight line where Cooks was running his route and Dak was outside the pressure and he decided to go to the corner where Tolbert was covered and he threw it out of bounds. Cooks was on a LBer but Dak threw it to the corner before he let Cooks come open.

Cooks is rarely the hot read and Dak is a 1-2 read QB most of the time. There is also very little familiarity between the two and Daks desire to get it out quickly.

But yeah, it’s silly they still haven’t figured out how to use him.

He can play both. I'm not seeing 4.3 on the field, though. He's lost a bit of a step compared with his youth. There's also the guy throwing and the playcalling. So I'm not saying it's him. But he's most effective in the slot and Ceedee is getting a lot of those opportunities.

So Dak was running left outside the pocket. Which way was Cooks running?
