In Friel's defense, Hill's story indicates that she didn't vouch for Thompson's credibility at all. It doesn't sound as if the league cares.

So basically they saw bruises and concluded that he did something to her and to "prove" their theory is correct, they use something called metadata.

She absolutely ruined him. No matter what happens, he'll be labeled as a woman beater and a nuisance for the rest of his career. In this day and age of social media and whatnot, Elliott will never escape this...especially as a Dallas Cowboy.

It's not fair, but it is what it is.

It sure sounds like a clear contradiction then, doesn't it?

They decided to suspend Elliott for 6 games and essentially called him a woman beater, but then they want to have it both ways and say that they "didn't vouch for Thompson's credibility?"

So which is it? They obviously don't believe him or he wouldn't have ben suspended, but now they want to say they don't believe her either?

Yeah, the lawyers should be lining up on Elliott's side. This botch job is a slam dunk for any decent attorney and their profile would rise up exponentially in the process.

No sympathy here.

You want to date crazy strippers, expose girls breasts for all to see, and party like it's the end of the world every day?

Play with fire, you're going to get burnt.

not necessarily

Ray Lewis - probably a murderer, not enough evidence to convict, carried the label for a while regardless, he rebuilt his image
Ben Roethlisberger - probably a rapist, again not convicted, still carries the label by a minority, his image is stable / positive overall

She signed off on the suspension based on allegations from a witness that lied to her directly. I would call that vouching for Thompson.

She's an investigator - not a decision maker

Dak Prescott was charged with DUI before the draft and won in court. If a Southern Sherrif had kept him in jail without bail, you would feel the same, right?

It depends on who you are referring to when you say "they".

If you're talking about the 4 panelists and Goodell, it sounds like they didn't have an issue.

If you're talking about Lisa Friel, if Hill's article is correct, she didn't vouch for Thompson's credibility.

Sounds like a case of backing your way into the result you wanted all along.

Among the quoted threats:

▪ After being told Elliott didn’t want her at his house on July 21 and he didn’t want her coming out with him, Thompson responded with: “Ok this is what you want? Ok then, I’m going to ruin your life. You will see. If I was you, I wouldn’t go out tonight.”

▪ After being told she couldn’t come Elliott’s 21st birthday party, Thompson told him “that’s worst decision you made in your life. I’m going to ruin you life now.”

▪ The report also details a text message in which Thompson told Elliott: “You better be smart. And not be a dumb man.”

▪ After not being allowed in the after party, she was heard yelling and screaming that “your career is over” and then proceeded to call the police.

▪ Elliott is also “100 percent certain” Thompson told him on July 22, “You are a black male athlete. I’m a white girl. They are not going to be believe you.”

Per the documents, Friel was unable to give an clear endorsement of Thompson’s credibility because she repeatedly misled investigators.

Wow, seems like more fodder for Zeke to file an equal opportunity case with the EEOC.

White player got 1 game.
Black player got 6 games with accuser proven to lie and make threats against his career.

Whether she succeeded in ruining his career is up to him. If he stays out of trouble moving forward, then no. What she has done is cost him a lot of money. He must be losing a ton of money to Dak in endorsements.

that is what so many here miss when talking about the rapist and the murderer. All that happened before what we have now. At least in degree. Like with Michael Irvin's conduct in the 90's. NOW it will NEVER go away for Elliot.

Then why isn't Zeke denying it? All he said was he's "disappointed in the league's decision." That is not a denial.

She's a crazy stripper. Fine. Doesn't mean he didn't hit her. His silence is deafening. And those pictures of bruises are right in our faces.

I'm not sure it matters if Zeke doesn't change his lifestyle. He's got Josh Gordon written all over him right now anyway.

Quintessential erod post. Fact free, whiny hyperbole.
