it's called MGS, Mr. Garrison Syndrome

Jason Garrett was definately a major problem but there were other culprits involved in one of the most disappointing seasons in Dallas Cowboys history.

The Cowboys easily moved the ball on the Ravens towards the end of the 4th Quarter. Tony Romo looked fine, Terrell Owens looked fine and Jason Witten even contributed.

Who was exactly hurt when the Ravens broke a 82 yarder on us and on their next possession, broke one for 77 yards and please don't say Roy Williams.

The reason we lost was because a lack of heart, chemistry and no accountability on the Coaching Staff. And some of the aforementioed reasons are the words uttered by Dallas Cowboys players, not me.

As opposed to the idea that nothing is right with this team and there's no hope for next season?

Only a handful of people, if that, are making that claim on Cowboyszone.

as Alexander astutely pointed out, wk. 17 was the difference

Last time I checked, every week in the NFL carries the same weight when it comes to making the playoffs. ;)

Mr. Garrison from South Park, not Jason Garrett

it's the attitude that if we were healthy, we go to the playoffs, like somehow we didn't underachieve this year, and didn't have major issues internally
Nice strawman.

IF we were healthy it stands to reason we win the extra game it would have taken to make the playoffs.

We were not and did not. Therefore we underachieved. We may have some major issues internally but I doubt that is the primary reason we missed the playoffs.

Just as only a handful of people are using injuries as an actual excuse. Most just add it to a long list of factors.

One game was the difference.

as it turned out, wk. 17 was the most important game of our season

and we blew it, er, got blown out

I think I'll avoid both extremes and leave that sort of conversation to you and whoever else.

don't bellow that injuries were the biggest reason as to why we missed the playoffs then

It's difficult to measure qualitative remarks as fact.

Sure I will, because it's not an extreme position to say that injuries were the single biggest reason we didn't make the playoffs.

True.

But the title of the thread is "Did injuries ruin our season".

The answer is no because we were more than healthy enough to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles.

To restate, we weren't so injured that it translated to a 44-6 butt whoopin.

what about winning the game that we actually needed to win to make the playoffs?

it's as extreme as any "reason" that realistically kept us out of the playoffs

such as failing to step up when it counted

I blame the teams demise on Gremlins.

This is true as well. We definitely looked like crap late in the season. If we HADN'T had those injuries earlier and had won one more game....the way we played in December certainly suggests that we wouldn't have know what to do with our playoff birth anyway....just as injuries earlier suggest that we would've won more when Romo was out....but there's no way to tell for sure.
