But what's important is that Aikman trusted Irvin would always be where he needed to be. He never had to wonder if Irvin would fight across the DBs face when everyone in the stadium knew a slant route was coming.

Keep this in mind. The guy has VERY little experience playing WR at the higher levels. Missed years in College, missed training camp last year, no OTAs mini camps, so I know we want Rome built today, but it's not going to happen.

Irvin didn't have freakish talent. He was a technician. Nobody ran better routes in his day.

That said, he was never as gifted physically as Dez.
It remains to be seen if Bryant can put it together, but I have high hopes.

Anytime Dez touches the ball I immediately go from resting heart rate to target heart rate. I started REALLY paying attention and was old enough to understand during campos three 5-11 years, so Dez is undoubting the most exciting player I've been able to enjoy at my young age of 23. I know his route running is shaky, so thats why I'm wondering if Irvin got by off extreme talent or if he was a master in all phases of his position

And Troy Aikman is NO Tony Romo. I know, I watched him his whole career and while Romo has saved this o-line a dozen sacks in just the last two weeks, Aikman would have been displaying his own toughness, and irritation at not getting time to read and throw with accuracy.
Aikman DID have great accuracy when he could stand tall in the pocket and follow through on his passes, but he wasn't very mobile in the pocket. He would make a guy miss from time to time, but he was more like Brady or Peyton Manning, at his best behind a good line. A line like Romo has NEVER had.
Romo extends plays without even thinking- and makes plays on the move that would make Aikman blush.
I love Aikman, but that is the truth.
