Did Jerry tell Cooper Rush to tank the Game today?

This was really a strange Cowboy game today. Cooper Rush had been playing good in trying to bring this team back from a losing season. People were even talking about a possible QB battle next season. lol So there were at least THREE 3rd down and 1 for the Cowboys in the first and each time Cooper haphazardly just threw the ball down the field instead of throwing short passes to pick up the First Down. It just looked he might have been told not to look good or try to win. Because if he help Win this game and maybe the last game. This could make Jerry look bad for paying Dak all that money and/or use it as excuse to get rid of McCarthy. Opinions?

I mean Rush is terrible against actually good teams. He is the drastically worse version of Dak in this regard (and I mean drastically). Case in point he has played 3 games against the Eagles and here are his stats: 46-89 373 yards 2 TDs 5 INTs with a rating of 47 (remember spiking it into the ground every play gets you a rating of 39). That is 3 games worth of numbers. They are genuinely dreadful.

That would seem far fetched being he's playing for his next contract and fact he struggled earlier in the season against the Eagles too.

Rush had been erratic. Just like the other guy, he struggled against the better teams.

Look at what he did against Philly the first time. 13-23 for 45 yards and the Cowboys scored 6 points.

Think back Jimmy Johnson coaching, I bet Jimmy would been livid and let his QB know on the sidelines if there was Three 3rd down and 1 yard to go for first down and the QB keeps throwing the ball way . down the field. haha :banghead::facepalm::muttley::laugh:

True but in Rush defense, any QB would have struggled with Cook as your best WR playing against Fingio's defense. He had littlerly NO chance against a bunch of ALL-PROs/elite players on the other side.

Lol. Nothing is impossible, but Jones instructing anyone on the team or staff to underperform is about as unlikely as anything you can imagine. Rush is, at best, a decent backup. The posts about Rush ‘getting the bag’ next year were laughable at first read.

If you watched the Cowboys when Rush was winning, then you saw receivers making damn good catches on balls thrown behind them, high, etc. Yes, he did make some good throws. He supposed to. He’s one of the top 100 QBs on planet earth, which is what it takes to be on an NFL roster as a QB at any depth. But no, he wasn’t instructed to tank. He just isn’t very good.

Jerry looks bad no matter what. Jerry finally realized it was time to lose(CD no longer playing), although this was a few weeks late.

I don't believe players are told to lose. Head Coaches can be told to lose to minimize the exposure. They make the game plan, can call dumb plays or decide to play rookies over veterans to gain experience.

He’s faced some of the worst teams in the league and ran into one of the best.

LOL............ No, Cooper wasn't told to tank, he just isn't a very good QB. Unfortunately, neither is the person he is filling in for. Yesterday ends the same no matter who is behind center.

Why is it so hard to believe that Cooper Rush is a backup level QB who was without his only real weapon in the pass game going up against a team that has dominated him the last few years?

There is no conspiracy here, Rush is actually one of the main players with something of significance to gain or lose in this game. If he went out and threw for 22/30 250 yards 2TDs yesterday we are probably talking about how he might be pricing himself out of Dallas in 2025. This is the type of game that may have gotten Rush higher end backup QB money in the $6-8M per year range had he performed well....instead he might right in the middle or bottom of the pack in the 2025 backup FA crowd with Brissett, Winston, Wilson, Lock, Mariotta, Fields, Jones, etc.

Eagles are his kryptonite lol.

This year = *** vs the Eagles
In 2022 he went 4-1, the lone loss was a bad performance vs the Eagles in week 6.

Rush is what he is. A backup.

He didn't tank, just what you saw is what you get.
The team has been eliminated from the playoffs, down by 20+ points. Why they didn't run out Lance is something.

He didn't throw the game, playing against a team with pro bowlers and all pros at every other position without CD was the problem.

given the cost alone, there is no qb battle.
