He’s giving his opinion. He said he “believes” they wouldn’t have taken Dalton Kincaid and “thinks” they still would’ve taken Smith. There’s others who cover the Cowboys and the league that have different opinions. Everyone has an opinion.
My problem with Kincade hes a WR playing TE kind of similar to Hendershot not good at blocking. Really the best blocking TE is Scoony baby than Darnell Washington than Mayer. I believe Washington has some medical alerts on both knees.

When you’re drafting a TE in the first round you’re looking mainly for a receiver. A WR playing TE is why Kyle Pitts was drafted so high a couple of years ago. Kincaid is a much better prospect than Hendershot. You draft a blocking TE later in the draft.

Missing my point I'm not saying Hendershot is better what I'm saying from the Cowboys position Kincade gives you what you kind of already have. What the Cowboys were looking for is a blocking TE. In honesty they already have Ferguson and Hendershot they both can catch. If you put Ferguson in this draft he probably would be right at the top of the TE rankings in this draft. The Cowboys picks are based more on team specific. Mazi for run stuffing. The TE is most likely the best blocking TE in the draft only one similar Darnell Washington. The thing is because they are filling certain needs instead of highest ranked player on Mel Kipers board they will get a C draft. Now two of these picks from the 5th round they traded for Brandon Cooks and Gilmore two proven NFL players. Me personally I count this so right now I have them with a B draft.

What I’m saying is Kincaid is a much better prospect than Hendershot so he’s giving you better than what you already have which is why he had a first round grade. Hendershot was an undrafted free agent. The Cowboys are looking for someone to replace Dalton Schultz who they offered a contract to. You seem to be fixated on a blocking TE. We’re looking for someone who can make plays in the passing game and also provide some blocking. We need a TE that can provide a security blanket for Dak and move the chains consistently on third down.

It could be argued that Dak needs weapons but he also needs someone to help keep him upright, since he is the fastest decision maker.

Did you see interview with KC TE Kelce he loves Ferguson mentioned him in his interview he didn't talk about others drafted high in the draft.

I didn’t see the interview, but it doesn’t matter what Travis Kelce thinks. Ferguson has potential, but he only had 19 catches last season. We couldn’t risk going into the season with Ferguson and Hendershot, battling it out for the starting job.

I'm not sure where your getting Hendershot was an UDFA he was a 4th round pick of Dallas in 2022
Jake Ferguson was drafted in the fourth round.

From Google: “Hendershot signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He made the initial 53-man roster out of training camp. In Week 7 of the 2022 season, he scored his first NFL touchdown on a two-yard reception in the 24–6 victory over the Detroit Lions.”

I believe with Ferguson, Scoony and Hendershot we are fine at TE all three can catch and two of the three can block well at the line of scrimmage. We have much bigger needs. Mazi they had to have we can't stop the run. In my opinion second round Scoony I felt there were better players but I know they picked him for blocking. I believe Darnell Washington was a really good blocker BUT two swollen knees he was sliding.

Hendershot yes UDFA but I believe that Ferguson who I like quite a bit was a 4th rounder

Overall how do you feel about this draft ? I'm a little skeptical but feel better adding Gilmore and Brandon Cooks with two fifth round picks.

Having 3 young TE prospects, gives us some good options. It will provide some great competition in training camp.

I just posted that Ferguson was a 4th rounder. You confused Hendershot with Ferguson.

I think the Cowboys want to play a good amount of 12 personnel mixing the pass and run so they need two versatile tight ends. Just have to see how it plays out now.

Cowboys TE coach was on local sports talk radio after the pick.
- He said Schoonmaker had the best blocking fundamentals of any TE in this draft.

FYI: The Cowboys and other teams red flagged TE Washington for medical issues.
Yeah, I read all that too. But Washington is not currently injured. I guess we'll see how he does in Pittsburgh,

I remember the Eagles stealing our guy in the 1st when Parcells was HC. They knew he was high on Shawn Andrews, jumped one pick ahead and took him and the guy was a bust, injured too much.
Dude was a multiple time all pro?
