ESPN just called him a pass catcher. If they wanted a blocker, Washington should have been the pick
Apparently the cowboys consider TE Schoonmaker a better blocker than Washington according to the guys at dallascowboys.com. they were also talking about his style, the tenacity and the nastiness in how he was used in Michigan, being a much tougher program.

Personally, I don't know anything about Schoon other than what the guys at dallascowboys.com said but considering where he came from and his style, picking him with 2nd pick doesn't mean we would of used a 1st on a TE, especially when the 1st round pick would of been a guy with a complete different style.

They are loons. UGA is the toughest and most competitive program in the country. Washington was underutilized as mostly a blockingTE. I honestly think the cowboys have a lot of big 10 scouts and nobody in the SEC.

Ok. Yeah. As I said, not familiar with the guy and considering the best player charts, would of thought Washington would of been the pick.

Hopefully it works out, but honestly I think picking a TE in the first place was a waste because I like Ferguson and Hendershot

After seeing our 2nd round pick, and how weird Jerry was acting after the draft, plus the huge scramble after the Bills jumped them I would say yes they took their guy.

If Jerry is unhappy, that's a good thing. Looks like the football guys are starting to win out. If they can keep Jerry from drafting the next rap star in the 2nd round, then we're truly changing the culture here.
Bet Jerry looked unhappy when we *didn't* draft Manziel but got the GOAT G.
And yes, I remember who Larry Allen is.

Washington had medical red flags and is still available now.

Schoonmaker was the 2nd best blocking TE in the draft and has safe hands and is a good route runner.

Seems like every year teams are jumping up in front of us to take our top guy.

Now I’m happy with smith but I wonder if dalton was the pick…

But it definitely seems like every team in the nfl knows who we’re picking for some reason…
The Bills knew Kincaid was the Cowboys target, and the faces in the Cowboys war room confirmed it. Even saw Mccarthy looking animated and irritated after the Bills selection. I think Mazi was the fallback option.

Having said that I don’t think the Cowboys got sniped at all. They drafted a great talent and by far their biggest position of need. They may have thought they could get him later but I doubt it. DT is becoming a 20 plus million dollar position in the NFL.

I do think M, Parsons has a future as a GM. He asked Quinn to draft him earlier in the day with that pick.

His athletic upside is off the charts. Many pro bowls in Mazi’s future.

If you want someone bad enough you need to be active and have some understanding on who else is in the market for said talent. When you sit pat, it tells me that you liked the talent but didn't think it was worth moving up for.

Cowboys TE coach was on local sports talk radio after the pick.
- He said Schoonmaker had the best blocking fundamentals of any TE in this draft.

FYI: The Cowboys and other teams red flagged TE Washington for medical issues.
