Looking back on TC. Have we accomplished anything. What have we learned? Yes I know that is a can of worms that will get all the usual suspects negative navy comments. Which I expect some criticism, as I have my own. But try to keep it within reason...not just say...this sucks that sucks.

I feel with all the ham string injuries, and other injuries here and there. We didn't learn or accomplish much. Maybe it is just me, but seems to be more negatives than positives. I guess because of the suspensions, injuries, and the entire Zeke thing looming, it just didn't seem like a productive camp.

We have not seen anything of the rookies, or not very much if anything.

Positves...Jaylon Smith, Noah Brown, if they don't screw it up and lose him. Rico looking good, and copper Rush. But will that be negated if they keep Moore also, therefore using another player. Dak looking great, no sophomore slump at all there. Dez looks great.
Collins still learning at RT, no real answer to LG, no answer to swing tackle, as Green stays banged upped.

Taco has significantly gotten better.
So has Gathers.
Collins is coming along nicely.
Paea has emerged.
Cooper Rush is picking up what Dak was doing last year.
Dak has improved markedly with his mechanics, his ability to throw from different platforms, his quickness in going through reads, and passing from the pocket.
Hanna has shown he can still play in the NFL
Dez has built a tremendous rapport with Dak and vice versa. Dak knows how to get him the ball now.
Jaylon has improved steadily as he knocks off rust and adjusts to the pro game. He can pick his foot up now we know for sure.
Frazier now looks comfortable in his assignments on defense.
Woods bit hard as a puppy. Neal and both Joneses too.
Theaker has shown up.
Jones is settling in nicely into his FS role.
DLaw has returned from injury and is playing well.
Irving is more consistent in his attack on OL.
Butler is more consistent and showing better hands.
Noah Brown now runs routes and gets separation
The DL is getting consistent push.
Only one major injury and none to a star player.
Rod Smith has emerged as a legitimate NFL RB and ST.

The downsides have been

Zeke railroading
Moore is awful
depth on the OL; Green's inability to stay healthy.
cohesiveness in coverage LB and secondary
injury to Hitchens,
hamstrings of the rookies. Thornton.
No one has runaway with the LG spot but Cooper has been steady and competent.

Thanks Fuzzy. Your observations are spot on as usual.

I wouldn't read much into rookies in preseason, anyway. Yeah it translated with Dak last year, but there have been plenty of guys people got excited about in August who disappeared in September.

We won't know anything until the real games start.

Cooper Rush was the best thing from training camp. Jaylon moving forward was also a positive. Like what I saw from Dak. Morris looks thinner and quicker to me. Swain and Hanna still look good. Rico continues to impress. That was about it. Everything else was not positive or was a draw.

Great review! You forgot to mention Witten can still get open and his blocking is still good enough.

we learned we got a better back up qb than moore on the roster

Yep. This is my main thing. Kellen Moore is terrible and no one felt comfortable with him as your #2. Cooper showed he is much better and has more potential. Up to the staff now to make that decision to keep him and ship Kellen out and he can see if another team will pick him up after the cuts.

Dallas has found its new backup QB.
Dallas has some strong depth at WR
Rico Gathers is going to be a very good football player
The OL is just fine even with the losses of Free and Leary
Taco and Damontre Moore are going to be contributers for this DL
Paea is the perfect fit for this defense.
Jaylon Smith is going to be back completely healthy at some point and will start
Sean Lee is completely healthy and is so fast
Dallas is playing alot more man
Dallas might be trouble with its S position.

Rookies round 2-4 missed huge chunks of time with injuries, and considering round 2 and three were expected to contribute a lot, it has to be considered a setback. Still not convinced the usual defensive weakness (covering middle of the field on passes) has improved much. Not sure the O Line has jelled yet either. Those are the main issues this minute.
