Did We Move the Proverbial Needle this Off-season?

My biggest annoyance was waiting to take a DT until the late rounds. Especially in a class like this one.

But if they get a couple via FA, trades, or draft in the coming years, it might end up being okay.

There were too many holes to fill this season.
All teams put their pants on one leg at a time...not collect gold medals.

Jerry is probably done. This splashy Pickens move excited fan base and the jerseys are being printed as we speak. Jerry is excited to see the sales numbers
Some fans appreciate the actual good going on. Not afraid of the journey for success and praise for good involved. I gave up breast feeding decades ago. These guys are winners!

Even more hinges on our 7th round NT. Too bad we didn't think of it earlier.
I'm not sure the round matters all that much in this particular class. I mean, after Pegues or so, how big is the drop off most years?

This year's 7th is likely another year's 4th. The DT class was the best in like 30 years.

Jerry is a financial winner. in football measures he is a loser. if success of NFL teams is measured by championships, then 30 years of draught and not even a CCG appearance. that's 30th worse of the 32 teams...I guess you can celebrate, since we are not last. there actually someone who said, we had 8th best regular season record in past 20 years...seriously.

He wants to win more than anyone. He’s just been unable to figure out how to do it for the last 3 decades. Anytime I read someone say “Jerry is not interested in Super Bowl contention” I immediately disregard their knowledge.
No he doesn't. We've already had this convo many times, but you don't appear able to grasp simple facts and concepts. Anyone who says "Jerry wants to win more than anyone" is to be disregarded, as they lack the ability to understand facts and data.

The round never matters once the player is in camp, but how soon you address a position in the draft matters a ton. Most 7th rounders are no more than camp fodder. Sure hope we got a steal, as the NT position is the worst on the team. Waiting til the 7th was quite foolish.

Personally, I don't see how you could think the team didn't at least put in a solid effort at improving.

I won't list all the players, but I think the ones we've added via draft or FA or UDFA or trades, probably move the needle at least a little bit.

I just hope they aren't done yet. I don't know what we're getting done. But get 'er done, Jerry!
If we're relatively healthy, that alone moves the needle. But otherwise, I look at it based on the draft, since that's how this team is built. In this case, add Pickens. I don't count the mortar they use to fill in the holes. Does this draft class and Pickens move the needle? I think so. But I think we might need one more good draft class to contend. Which is why I'm going to be none too happy if we lose Pickens after the season.

Hopefully they address it next draft. That along with RB if Blue doesn't work out.

:lmao2:

The Eagles could take a step back. Not saying they will, but they did lose their offensive coordinator, their top pass rusher (Sweat), one of their top DEs/DTs (Milton Williams), two of their top DBs (Slay, Gardner-Johnson), a starting guard (Mekhi Becton), etc.

Now, the Eagles have replacements for those players, but that doesn't mean that the chemistry will be the same. There's a reason why the NFC East doesn't have repeat division champs.
You basically answered your own concern about the Eagles…they draft so well for the future they won’t skip a beat.

I think they sign a free agent. Doesn't have to be the draft. That's what I don't get. We don't have to draft one to get better at the position.

They really have no reason to lose him. We have cap space.

A couple more free agents at key positions and we should be good. We don't need 4 RBs or TEs. They need to keep extra DTs this year

We definitely improved. I haven't been this excited about an offseason since we signed Laroi Glover back in the early 2000s. On paper this team can compete with anyone out there. It's obvious last year we Tanked and it's frustrating as it was, it is providing dividends.

Most, not always. Depends on how much homework scouting dept does. Of course, a little luck never hurts. But it's really more of a game of evaluation than luck.

Tis the season of hope. It runs annually from April to around mid-October.
All 32 teams’ fans are enjoying a “season of hope” right now. 32 teams had a great draft. 32 teams made prudent free agent signings. 32 teams’ fans are looking forward to yet another one or two free agent signings to put their favorite team in a position to compete for a championship. Teams with new coaching staffs automatically have better coaching staffs than last season. Teams with the same staffs are better for their one more year of experience.

Right now, from their respective fans’ point of view, the NFL is comprised of 32 franchises that are all likely Super Bowl winners next February. It’s the best time to be a fan. We can all spew nonsense that is near impossible to refute.

Division is tougher. But we improved this year. If we can stay healthy, I think we can compete with any team, including Philthy. We need a few things to go our way, but our luck should probably get better as far as injuries.

Pickens is like having 2 number 1 receivers. Almost not fair to get him yet we got him, plus the draft.

Now we just need to sign one more splash player and it'll be the best off-season in a decade.
They need a MLB
