Did You Have a Favorite Cowboy Who Wasn't a Star?

And mine would be Ratliff. I guess hes close to being a star, but I've on his bandwagon pretty much since his first pre-season game. I love the enthusiasm and intesity he brings.
 
Most talk was usually about the Triplets.... Novacek got a mention here and there... but he wasnt considered a star.

He was one of favorite players. I always felt he was gonna make the catch and then do "something" and make a play.

Remember that hurdle jump over a player while running down the middle of the field... great stuff.

I just felt sorry for the guy. We signed him from the Rams to be Aikman's backup. During preseason, he threw interception after interception. He never saw the opening day roster. Poor guy........ :cry:

Robert Newhouse. Loved his game.
 
Another one is Preston Pearson.

At the end of his career, he was an excellent clutch receiver out of the backfied.

George. Well, defending the Star from T.O. was classic enough for me. He was a steady player, and had the heart of a Lion. When noone else was doing anything about T.O.'s antics, George took it upon himself to be the lawmaker. Well done George, and thank you.

Bingo! How did we get to page 3 of this thread until George Teague's name is mentioned. He shall forever be known as the defender of the star, and despite being a journeyman, he was one of my favorite players.

The other would be Bill Bates.

He will most likely always be known as the biggest Fighter Pilot in USAF History. He flew an A-10 Warthog in Desert Storm and was finally allowed to play football a year earlier than his military stint would normally allow because he was simply too big for the plane.

I dont recall the whole story, but somebody (I think it was Denver) tried to trade for his rights after Jimmy and Jerry took over and Hennings was released to play...I was thinking they were gonna accept it, then ran him through some workout and said "wow, this guy is really good"...no way we're trading him...maybe somebody who reclals all the specs can post

I also seem to recall his last yr at Air Force was one of the bets ever for a DL...I think he had over 20 sacks that yr

I liked Harper right up till his last game here vs SF in the NFC Championship game (the one we lost)...he sulked and basically was going through the motions, then was benched because he was playing so poorly...after the game he was in a dejected Dallas lockerroom yelping it up about how he couldnt wait to leave and get his huge payday...then of course he turned into a mega bust in Tampa

its too bad that draft day deal in 1994 didnt work out...he was part of a trade up (St Louis I think) that was gonna get us Willie McGinest, but New England took him before (seemed like that was a surprise that day too)

Of course Bill Bates. But I really liked Dennis Thurman and Kelvin Martin (K-Mart)
