Questions Dooms, how would you feel about BP if he does just walk away this year ?

I would hate to see that happen I clearly could understand why he would or why any coach would walk away from the game as a HC. The hours and work these men put in not to mention the pressure they are under would wear on any person after a while. My gut feeling is Bill is not going to walk away at this stage but you never know.

I voted to drop both. I think Dallas would be infinitely better off if Parcells exits before Ellis and Glover are dumped and he can take young Vinnie Bledsoe with him.

This team is so freaking close to being a serious contender I'll be sick to my stomach if Parcells throws it all away trying to destroy the team like he's done at every other stop right before he walks away (see I'm the genius, no one else can win with those players).

Find a coach (hopefully Ron Rivera) that's smart enough to use a scheme that takes advantage of the players' strengths. Back to the 4-3 and get Keith Davis off the field even if that means paying Henry obscene amounts of money for a FS and this defense can be spectacular.

Offensively, get a Brad Johnson or Jon Kitna as the "starter" but pick one of the two backup QBs, annoint them the heir apparent and get them in for at least one series a game. Tell Larry Allen thanks for the memories but see ya. Go OT in the first (LT, RT, doesn't matter),OG in the second, OLB/FB with the next two.

Dump Parcells because "we close to being a serious contender"? Bill is the reason why we are so close to being serious contenders, we sure as heck were not very close before he arrived.

Parcells has a history of getting teams "close" then destroying things on his way out the door.

Plus when I said "close", this team is that close personnel wise with a 4-3 defense. A D-line of Ellis, Glover, Ferguson and Canty with Spears rotating at all four spot and linebackers with Ware, James and even Singleton (if that spot can't be upgraded) is a darn sight better than the 3-4 alternative of Canty, Ferguson, Spears with no legit backups save maybe Johnson and linebackers of Ware, a replacement for Fowler, James and a replacement for Fujita.

I don't agree with your version of Parcells history. As far having the people to run the 3-4 we have only ran it this past year and I'm sure more people will be added to provide depth. Your not going to get everything you want in 1 off-season but for the most part Dallas did get some good young players in here to run the 3-4

and just how many off-seasons do you give a coach who plays "do you really want me" at the end of every year?

Evidently more than you do. I give most coaches 5 years to turn a program around as long as progress is being made.

From what I'm reading ... many pollsters are under the impression that we're SO CLOSE.

So CLOSE to what??? The final spot in the playoffs???

Are we close to being a Super Bowl team? Nope.

What do we have? No QB to speak of, two aging WR's, and an offensive Offensive Line.

BP had three years to fix this ... and he didn't. I'm not gonna bash him, but gents, we have problems.

We're NOT close to anything. We're a 2-4 team over the last 6 games. The 7-3 start was a myth, just like our 8-3 start was a facade in 2003.

So we bring BP back for one more year ... what would he accomplish? Same lame duck QB, same aging WR squad.

Same Center and backups starting on the OL.

All this re-tooling hasn't done us squat. We should have overhauled back in 2002 ... heck, we should have overhauled in 1998.

But we're going to continue with this patchwork of a team, and get our butts dumped on AGAIN next year.

BP will leave in 2007 and we'll be back here complaining about the same mess we were in in 2003.

pay attention please.

HOW MANY YEARS do you give them if at the end of every year they "don't know if they have it within them to go on"

if he'd **** and stay strong he'd not have these problems. someone spouts a retirement rumor, he denies it then says he may wanna retire.

again, if he'd quit the melo-drama for the sake of drama i'd be more on his side. but now we don't know if he'll be around, if so he'll likely do this again next year, and in the meantime we keep drew and he gets to pick another OC and DC when he won't be around much past them.

again, committ or go away. that is NOT not giving him time that's asking him to make up his mind if he wants a $4.5 mil job or not and to shut up and go do it if he does.

just like our "mythological defense" that was #1 and parcells tore it down to mid 20's then back again and he gets all this "credit" for putting it back but they call it building it.

Only drama I see is your ranting. Bill will announce his intention and I have no doubt it will be done fairly soon.

I think everyone should be able to voice their opinion. That said I personally enjoy reading the whiny beotches with their 20/20 hindsight and their doom and gloom attitudes a lot less. That's just me.

As for the poll, I didn't vote. We don't have to give Bledsoe an extension to three years he's already signed for two more years which is about right but wasn't one of the choices. Obviously he's going to start next year unless BP doesn't come back. People that don't like that can whine all they want but there it is. IMO Bill will come back and will sign a two year extension. People that want him gone and want Bledsoe gone should study the game a bit more. Yes, the Cowboys have been very blessed with great coaches and QB's. But when you look at the dozens and dozens of coaches and QB's that are hired in the league and how many of them are successful you realize we are indeed fortunate to have big Bill and Drew in Dallas. Things are looking up IMO.

let me see if i can make this one a bit more "sincere" to opinions on the board - *all* of them, not just what i want it to come out as like some people do.

I think you were the one who said big neils poll was biased and a REAL set of poll questions would illicit a different result. Even though only 2 of 5 choices you created allow Bledsoe to start, the results are the same.

80% want Bledsoe to start next year and 35% overall want parcells and Bledsoe for 3 more years. Thanks for that one, even I didn't vote for that.

but 1/2 of that 80% will only give it 1 more year.

Bill is not holding them hostage either, again with the drama, sorry if he does not do exactly what you want when you want.

doom, it's not him doing what *I* want, it's doing things good for the TEAM, not bp. i don't care what BP does with the exception that i wish it were what he says he'd do.

WHO SAID I'M GONNA RETIRE!! THAT LYING BASTAGE!!!!

days later - "oh, i may retire, i don't have it in me...I need to get away..."

back at work the next day.

gets old.

He can't win on this. If he says he's coming back and doesn't he's a liar. If he says he doesn't know he's a waffler. If he says he's leaning towards retirement he's inviting even more speculation. The man is 64 years old in one of the most intense jobs you can find.

He loves the job, always has, but at his age if you didn't ask yourself whether you can still make the major, major committment it takes to be successful you wouldn't be human. This isn't about Bill getting attention. It's about a guy with a history of heart problems taking a few days to see if he can still muster the fire it takes to continue. What's the problem with that? If he does opt to continue, there's no guarantee he won't step away after this year. I don't get why this is hard for people to understand or accept.

It has been 3 days since the season ended Bill will say what he is going to do and that is not hurting anyone right now as most NFL business is not going to take place until after the SB is over as it normally does every year.

How bout...I signed a 4 year contract...I will fulfill that contract and then and only then will I think about walking away AGAIN! He could win on that one.

While maybe he didn't start the drama...I think he enjoys it.

Because God knows that if Parcells leaves the walls will crumble down...That's what he wants you to believe. :D

maybe it was all of parcells "tough guy" denial of the "rumor" HE waffled on days later that makes people wonder.

then again i've been thinking he's had issues for awhile after listening to him in PC's. he just sounds lost and like grandpa simpson telling stories at times. too many times.

if parcells came out and said "hell yea, at my age i'm always wondering" and laughed it off, non issue. he made it one by calling people out and calling mort a liar and then saying "oh, i dunno..."

he's waffling. don't get mad at those who notice.
