While Jerry negotiates this with him and his agent he should have a continuous loop of him wiffing on that tackle in the playoff game against the 49ers

A lot of fans would rather have a cheaper option like they would at the rest of our key positions. Their formula for winning a championship is not paying anyone top dollar.
And the results of "their formula" have been...?

Are you talking the Cowboys formula? Their formula has been to pay their best players, which is why they’ve won several NFC East championships in recent years and are coming off back to back 12 win seasons. We’ve already seen some fans suggesting we trade Parsons before we have to pay him. Lol If we went with the fans formula we would be picking in the top 10 every year. A lot of fans would want to trade out of the top 10 in fear we would come up with a great player that we would eventually have to pay.

Whats funny is they are also probably the same people that want to draft a Guard in round 1
What’s funny is some of the same fans that don’t want to pay our top players want to pay big money to other teams players in free agency. They hate the Cowboys “we like our guys” mentality. They want new blood from other teams regardless the price.

IMO that’s a strategy we absolutely should follow sometimes. lets say Diggs and Surtain or whomever you think is the top young corner are both free agents and both will cost $20M per year. If you don’t at least consider the outside player as a GM you're an idiot and shouldn’t be working in the NFL if you only consider 1/32 of the players.

Most of these outside free agents never perform for their second team the way they did for the first team. Seldom are they worth the money you’re forking over to sign them. Patrick Surtain has been good but he has 9 fewer INTs than Diggs. Right now I prefer Diggs he’s a playmaker. The problem with a lot of fans here is they’re willing to go with a lesser player for lesser money. You’re not going to become a great team doing that. They’re fans on this board that don’t want to pay CeeDee, Diggs or Parsons.

Hes one of the best ball hawks period. It's to the point if the ball gets thrown to his side, you expect him to come down with it. Sign him!

Diggs will be THE highest paid CB in the NFL when he resigns his new contract,...

It will definitely be a 20+ million deal per season deal... or such a huge " guaranteed" bonus that it will cement him as highest paid CB in some degree or another.

NFL's highest paid cornerbacks in 2023 (average salary per year):

  • 1. Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander: $21 million
  • 2. Browns cornerback Denzel Ward: $20.1 million
  • 3. Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey: $20 million
  • 4. Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey: $19.5 million
  • 5. Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore: $19.4 million
  • 6. Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard: $18 million
  • 7. Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White: $17.3 million
  • 8. Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson: $16.5 million
  • 9. Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis: $14.8 million
  • 10. Eagles cornerback Darius Slay: $14 million

When it comes to the player the Cowboys really prioritize and really want to keep here .. the Cowboys have always managed to re-signed their own.
I cannot name a case that was different.

It would have to be an astronomical event between the two parties of Diggs camp vs the Jones for it to be any different.
