Just as advertised, the installer showed up on Monday. He was about 35 minutes late but was nice enough to call about 10:30 to let me know he was going to be.

I already had the right dish so all we needed to do was switch out the box and the installer made some minor adjustments to strengthen the signal on Satelitte 110.

Good expierence overall. He did tell me that they are giving so many of these away now because they started a 2 year lease program where if you don't honor the lease you pay for the cost of the DVR. Not sure how many people actually got told that but it would be nice to know.

He also said they are not doing away with the TIVO brand but TIVO is actually making the boxes for DirecTv. DirecTv is I guess trying to get of all their RCA receivers as they will not be offering them anymore.

Actually I was told I would be returning the DVR once I cut DIRECTV service. Not sure if he meant if I did it before 2 year contract or even after two year contract.

Also he did say, the next version which is coming up soon, will need a 5 LNB dish, which is lot bigger than 3 LNB one, so he said apartments might have issues with that one. But most likely I might move to a new house by then. If not people living in apartments might have problems with getting the new HD DVR once it comes out.

Got everything installed yesterday. Never did get the HD DVR for free. Still kind of upset about that. So far, the HD is disappointing. HBO and showtime looked much better in HD with Comcast. By far the best looking HD is what I am getting with the off-air antenna. All the HD coming from the dish is low qualidy HD in my opinion. I'm pretty disappointed so far.

I called again today just to test the water and see if I could getting anything else...I got $50 additional discount off my next bill.

As far as the two year gareement goes its irrelivant to me because as long as they have the Sunday Ticket they wll have me as a customer.

Well the new HD DVR MPEG 4 is out and they are going to give it to me on the 27 of Sept. They kept their word. The lady told me it would cost 99 dollars, but after talking to her on the phone she gave me also a regular dvr and 200 dollars of credit. So everybody who got that hd dvr, call and get your upgrade.

I have it. It is unbelievable the clarity. Of course, you must have an HD TV. There are only about seven or ten HD channels right now, but they said they are going to send up another satellite this summer, and that will increase.

One downside, the local channels are not HD, at least in my area. The local stations (they must sign off) shot down my waiver request to obtain Fox, NBC, ABC, and CBS out of NY or LA in HD. That means, any games on local channels, that will be blacked out on the Ticket, will not be in HD. What that means, is if you live in the Cowboys Television market, you may not be able to see the Cowboys in HD.
Local HD can be picked up on antenna.
Just purchase an HD antenna and hook it up to receive your local HD channels.
