I don't have any of the fancy HD TV stuff so I passed on that.

But, I wanted to see what I can do with alittle BSing. Instead of the 45$ a month I was able to get them down to $40 a month. But, Tomorrow.. I think I'll call back and see if I can get the 7 month payment plan. Which would be around $22 a month.

I'll have to work on that Superfan

Guys, Just to tell you what I said.

I just told them straight up that a buddy of mine told me about a great deal that he got from DirecTV involving NFL Ticket and "AwesomeFan" package.. He corrected me, and I said, Yeah, then I asked about the payment plan for Superfan (after he corrected me) and he said "Sure we can knock it down to 7 payments for the whole thing." I said "Great! Count me in, the wife is going to hate you." He laughed about that and then said, "In that case, I'll have to throw in the Superfan for free in order to give you a bargaining chip."

:) Love it.

They have stonewalled me every step of the way. They just don't like me. They act like I'm insane when I mention people are getting free HD DVRs. Kinda pissed now too that I found out the unit doesn't even have Digital Coax audio out, only optical...my optics are full.

I think a ton of it depends on how long you have been a customer and what "list" they have you on. The lady I got told me we have been customers for 11 years but I know it wsa longer cause we had Primestar when DirecTv bought them out. On top of that she kept repeating that we were a "A List" customer with top status, what ever that means.

this has to be the best thread of the weekend... I'm calling on Monday after reading all of the good news... Last year I wanted Super Fan but I felt like it would take away from watching the games...


So it will be great if I can try it out in 06!!!

Alright has anyone that has posted what they were able to get actually received it yet? If so, what are your thoughts about the HD DVR? Man, I had a scheduled appointment today for delivery and the dude never showed up! After several calls to the vendor and Directv about it. They gave me a window of 1pm-5pm. I called at 5, then at 7, they said they would be here within 45 minutes of that and still never showed up. My last call to Directv and they gave me a whopping $20 credit to my bill for the inconvience. I would have been cool with it if the guy just called and gave me a heads up so that we werent stuck at the house all day long on a saturday. Would you believe the tech finally called me at like 9:50 and said he would still come and install my dish/receiver tonight if i wanted and I was like okay cool but you jacked us up all day without calling us 1 time. He apologized and said he would be here shortly. Its 11:10 pm and the guy STILL isnt here.:mad: I am freakin' pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah that must be it. I was a customer for about 7 years until I cancelled after this past football season. You'd think I'd be exactly the person they'd want to offer this too. I canceled because I didn't want to pay for the equipment I'd need for HD and DVR, and because I didn't want to pay for programming I was already getting with cable, just to get Sunday Ticket. I should be the target audience for this kind of thing. Just what I'd need to sign back up (for 2 years no less). I still have until Monday to cancel before they're supposed to install it. I'm definately considering it still.

The reason you aren't getting anything ChildsPlay is that these offers are coming from Customer Retention. Since you aren't a customer, you can't be retained.

The only negative in dealing with Customer Retention is that they keep track of what they give you. So if you make a deal today, you are locked in for another 2 years (at least) before you can get another deal.

I've been a DTV subscriber for 13 years and have had the Sunday Ticket since day one.

I want the HD units, but I bought a standard def TIVO unit the first time I ever saw one in the store (my TIVO # is under 10,000) and it has been running strong ever since (other than changing out the hard drives a few times). My TV won't do PIP with a HD signal. Since I prefer to watch multiple games at one time but not the game mix, standard definition for the Sunday Ticket makes more since to me at this point. Plus, I bought a lifetime sub for my standard TIVO. I'm cheap enough I'm not ready to give it up.

Most of these installers are local guys who are hired out. I have seen the same guy at my house for the last 7 years on all upgrades and tech issues. It could not have been 6 hours after they scheduled me for the upgrade that he called me to verify and joked around that he might as well set up shop here.

It sounds as if you got a real bum.

I got all that I got, and I have been with DirecTV for a month. I think it just depends who you got...

Of course.. THey might be suspicious after all the 100's of calls that they've probably recieved over the past couple of days.

He says, i know its late but it you want i can still make it over tonight or we can do it tomorrow morning first thing. He showed up at my house at 11pm and was there unil about 1am! To top it off, he couldnt even finish the job till the next day because he couldn't activate the receiver because DirecTV were rebooting their systems which can take a few hours. We called it the night and he came over at 8 this morning and finished the job. Very happy to have it all working.;)

Did he have to change the wires and what not ? My DTV lines run though a storage closet outside my house, so I will have to empty it out (or at least some of it) if the wires need to be changed. Thanks for any assistance.

They are coming tomorrow to install.
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve right now. :D

I am an existing customer now. I have agreed to a 2 year deal. However, I have not received my equipment or service yet, so I can still back out of that 2 year deal. So, retention is exactly who I want to talk to. They can very easily lose this 2 year deal if they don't do what they can to retain me and my money.

Just as advertised, the installer showed up on Monday. He was about 35 minutes late but was nice enough to call about 10:30 to let me know he was going to be.

I already had the right dish so all we needed to do was switch out the box and the installer made some minor adjustments to strengthen the signal on Satelitte 110.

Good expierence overall. He did tell me that they are giving so many of these away now because they started a 2 year lease program where if you don't honor the lease you pay for the cost of the DVR. Not sure how many people actually got told that but it would be nice to know.

He also said they are not doing away with the TIVO brand but TIVO is actually making the boxes for DirecTv. DirecTv is I guess trying to get of all their RCA receivers as they will not be offering them anymore.

I don't think it really matters. Trust me, they're making a profit off this.

They wouldn't offer it if they didn't/weren't.

At first the guy told me that he probably wouldnt be able to set it up properly because there are 3 trees in the sightline (seems like they always tell me that). He got it done and even offered to come back out on his own time to adjust it if I had any problems.

So far it is amazing.

Likely a lot. KFFL is the best place to acquire most updated NFL news.

I read the post here and posted on ES (after a few days), with credit given to here (Jaxonsdaddd) and KFFL.

I admit I was skeptical, but after calling I was pleasantly surprised.
