Disappointed in Carp ... who would you take instead?

Looks like everyone is pretty down with Carp's play. He hasn't been in the field much.

Some say it's the quality of our LB's. Some say his inability to beat out a Special Teams player. Others say it's the move from OLB to ILB.

Reviewing the draft tracker,

http://www.nfl.com/draft/drafttracker/round/round1

Several quality players were available around Carp's spot. In retrospect, who do we take instead ... or do we stick with the Carp pick.

Some thoughts:

Manny Lawson (DE)
- playing well in SF. Would have been another tweener to be converted to the LB position. Would he have beaten out Greg Ellis for the starting OLB spot?

Santanio Holmes (WR)
- so much discussion about our lack of depth at WR. Though it may be true, Holmes isn't having a good year. At this point, I'd take Crayton over Holmes. Not just because I'm a Cowboy fan, but from what I've seen.

DeAngelo Williams (RB)
- this kid is lighting it up. But with JJ and MBIII (and Tyson Thomson), would this pick have made sense?

Nick Mangold (C)
- playing great with the Jet's. But how do you justify taking a first round Center with Gurode AND Johnson on board. Gurode's play has nullified any need to draft another Center for several years.

did you guys watch Carp when he did see action today? he was putting up some pressure

if BP puts Carp in ELlis' spot, I think we should wait till we ask this question

Cromartie

Not sure Cromartie would beat out Henry. CB should not be a first round priority .. then again, I'm sure he'd be doing more than Carp is doing. Argh.

Kills me.

I thought Carp played well today in a limited time.

This "burying" Carp is both premature and quite frankly--

Stupid.

Not burying but asking in retrospect.

It's good we finally don't need our 1st rounder to have an immediate impact, but it's abit disappointing when he doesn't.

I'm not sure if he'll play up to Greg Ellis' level, but he needs at least 3 years before we make judgement anyways.

I hate losing the experience of Greg Ellis.

This hurts us pretty bad.

Greg provided a consistant pass rush; I don't think that Carpenter can match or even come close to playing on Ellis' level.

Just my opinion though.

As I said since Day 1 - Nick Mangold...
Plain and Simple...Nick Mr.Hawaii Mangold...

He's playing well with the Jets.

Not sure he would have beat out Gurode or Johnson. Then again, maybe he would have given us the opportunity to move Gurode back to OG, and kick Old Man Rivera back to GB.

Gurode is best at OC

You left out Laurence Maroney.

He would have been my choice.

Outside of FS there was not a 1st rounder that was going to start for this team Eddy.
