Has a tiebreaker ever gone to coin flip
why would that be?It absolutely does matter if the eagles sweep the giants but lose to the cardinals.
And Dallas lost to AZ and BUFF. Move on to conference record. PHI wins.
Why? What I posted if from nfl.com.I don’t think that’s right
It does. Philly has to lose one more. But even so, we can only lose one more to either Miami or Detroit. If you guarantee a win over Detroit, the Miami game doesn’t matter. So the miami game doesn't really matter?
So where are we with the common opponents? If two teams are tied in the division standings, the first tiebreaker is their head-to-head record against each other. From there, if the tied teams have an identical head-to-head record, the next tiebreaker is their divisional record. Following that, the next tiebreaker is their record against common opponents, then conference record
I have not checked but I don't think that's true .. Buffalo was a common opponent as well so Dallas added a common opponent loss when they lost that game and Philadelphia just did the same in losing to another common opponent. If both win out then Dallas wins the NFCE.
Cowboys need Philly to lose one more and win out themselves.
We lost to Arz and BuffaloDallas wins the NFCE if both teams win out.
The 3rd tie breaker is common opponents. Dallas beat both the Jets and Seattle.
- Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
- Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
- Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
- Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
- Strength of victory in all games.
- Strength of schedule in all games
- Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed in all games.
- Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games.
- Best net points in common games.
- Best net points in all games.
- Best net touchdowns in all games.
- Coin toss
conference record is also identical if both teams win outAnd Dallas lost to AZ and BUFF. Move on to conference record. PHI wins.
We dont need to win outCowboys need Philly to lose one more and win out themselves.
Aussie football rules. Total overall point differential is the first toe breaker. Encourages running up scores though!Point differential should be the first tie breaker.
Man - ever since they went to "Divisional Play", EVERYONE deserves to be in the playoffs. Super Bowl is no indicator of the season's best team. It's the little tournament at the end of the year where the Owners and League make a LOT of cash. The 9-7 SB Champion Giants ring a bell?So another team doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs? O.O
Because we’d be 13-4 they’d be 12-5why would that be?
They've lost to the Jets and SeahawksWe lost to Arz and Buffalo
Yep - as it should be!Aussie football rules. Total overall point differential is the first toe breaker. Encourages running up scores though!
You're correct. We dont need to win out
Does the teams record matter at the end of the season or when you play them for strength of victory?Philly still wins due to Strength of Victory.
Assuming each teams wins out, Philly's teams that they beat have won more games
TB has 7 wins to CARs 2 (PHI +5)
KC has 9 wins to SDs 5 (PHI +4)
BUF has 8 wins to NYJs 5 (PHI +3)
SEA has 7 wins to ARZs 3 (DAL +4)
DET has 10 wins to MINs 7 (DAL +3)
Looks like a +5 for Philly...might be missing a game, but with all the common opponents and parity, there won't be a change this late in the season
Common opponents is tied
