Division winner scenarios thread

Just confirmed this on ESPN Playoff machine.
1. We both win out. Eagles win the division.
2. If Eagles lose 1 more (Giants or Cardinals), we don't have to win out to win the division. We just have to beat Washington and either Detroit OR Miami.

Someone can double check but this is what I am seeing on the ESPN Playoff Machine.

I have not checked but I don't think that's true .. Buffalo was a common opponent as well so Dallas added a common opponent loss when they lost that game and Philadelphia just did the same in losing to another common opponent.
Philly lost to both the Jets and Seattle. If Philly beats AZ then the 4th tie breaker could be interesting. Dallas still has Miami and Detroit, which would really help their case for strength of victory tie breaker.

If both teams win out. Eagles win division.

If eagles drop one to the giants. Cowboys can lose to either Miami or Detroit, go 2-1 and win the division.

Thats really the most likely scenario
In which the cowboys win the division.

Crazy that we don't have to win out to win the division if NY beats the EGirls but losing to Detroit could mean losing the 2nd seed as well.

------Realistically, Dallas must overcome a tougher rest-of-season schedule to make up a game in the final three weeks in order to win the NFC East.

Exactly what does this mean? How realistically is it? Still cannot believe that point differential is not one of the first tie breakers....it so obviously shows which team is more balanced...and in theory, better.

Looks to me like beating the Giants is far more important for the Eagles than beating the Dolphins is for the Cowboys. If both Eagles and Cowboys lose, Cowboys move from about 1 in 3 chance of winning the division to about 2 in 3.
We can be jealous that the Eagles have control of their destiny, but one more slip up by them and they will very likely sink in the seedings, even without a perfect season finish by Dallas.

It will go to the fifth tie breaker. Strength if victory. Cowboys have blown a lot if teams away so i think we may win the division if we can win the rest of the games. .

If the Eagles win out (vs. Giants, vs. Cardinals, at Giants) and the Cowboys win out (at Dolphins, vs. Lions, at Commanders), both teams finish 13-4. They remain deadlocked after first four tiebreakers: head-to-head record, division record, common-game record and conference record.

Eagles would then likely own tiebreaker for strength of victory, although it's not mathematically impossible today for the Cowboys to overtake them.

Realistically, Dallas must overcome a tougher rest-of-season schedule to make up a game in the final three weeks in order to win the NFC East.

Yeah this is what I can't calculate. You would think victories over the Lions and Dolphins would boost our strength of victory while Philly beating the Giants twice and Cards would lower there's. I don't understand strength of victory and how it's calculated.

That is true unless the game the Eagles lose happens to be the Giants game. At 12-5 the Cowboys would win the division (if the Cowboys happen to beat WAS and one out of DET and MIA.

If the Eagles lose either game to the Giants, we have a cushion. I think it's likely the Eagles lose 2 more games though.
They look defeated...heads down all around

Yeah, but that was my point . SoV is not set yet so it is way too early to say what will happen if both the Cowboys and Eagles win out.

The Cowboys have to figure out how to win on the road as well.

If Eagles lose one more, we just have to beat Wash and either Miami or Detroit to win the division. It's very simple.
