Unless he is up against someone like fields but then no one should expect a DE to be able to contain what is basically RB.
He has always been overpaid but that is not his fault; just more idiocy by the Front office.

   Please explain
People that think DLaw isn't worth his contract (15th highest paid defensive end in the NFL) are being dishonest with themselves. DLaw is worth every penny. He is one of the best all around DEs in the entire league. He literally does everything for this team. He is an elite run defender, maybe the best at his position, and still an above average pass rusher.

There have been multiple instances even just in the last few years where he makes the game sealing play. When it's 4th and short and you desperately need a stop, DLaw is one of the best in the league at beating his man and making the tackle short of the line to gain. I can't help but remember the Houston game last year where DLaw single handedly prevented Houston from scoring on the 1 multiple times. Beast.

Complete player.........all too often you have Dline players more concerned about sacks or splash plays.

BTW......here is his contract
I can't tell if he's a free agent after this season or still under contract but w/o any G'teed money.

He's under contract for one more year. The 2025 season voids. $10M base salary, $20M cap hit for the year (signing/restructure dead money of 10M), 3M dead cap from his contract in 2025.

He is the heart and soul of the defense. Luch pail guy who leaves it all on the field every week. Quietly productive and unselfish player who comes well prepared and gives full effort.

DLaw's contract is a perfect example of how Stephen and Jerry get caught in the restructuring-web-of-misery with aging players. They will need to restructure him again to get that number down before parting ways. The good news is he is still productive at 31. The bad news, he will likely be paid like a full-time player for rotational work.

Highly paid and hasnt won squat...

Id trade him in for a rookie.

See how childish that sounds.
Depends on the rookie. I'm a DLaw fan, but I'd gladly take five years of contract control and a player almost 10 years younger if it were the right player.

You watch Sounds from the Sideline and it's clear he's one of the leaders of this team.

He’s a terrific player.

Because he’s not a dominant pass rusher, he’s better suited to being the 2nd best lineman on your team, as he is now.

As a pure football player, he’s golden.

but he's paid to be a pass rusher, he owes us money!!! lol
He's paid to be a team defensive end and to hold position JUST what he does. Like in San Francisco and what their line does. Does anyone pay attention and understand differences. Pass rushing is a strength and the secondary is hard to abuse. The run defense is affected by safeties instead of top shelf linebackers. Our top linebacker is used on the defensive line...

Nothing will happen to Lawrence until he no longer produces. He is a key to run defense and pass rush on the Quinn defense. Wake up all not paying attention.

Someone making what he’s making should have more than 4 sacks. Those run grades are great but he doesn’t generate near enough pressure on passing downs.
