Dunn's reps call Cowboys

The representatives for RB Warrick Dunn -- released by the Falcons early today -- have put in a call to the Cowboys to gage their interest in signing the veteran.
"The Cowboys are on Warrick's radar," said a representative at CAA, the firm that represents Dunn. CAA has not heard back with definitive word from Dallas.
Dunn became expendable in Atlanta when the Falcons signed Michael Turner on Sunday.
He is one of just 22 backs in NFL history to rush for more than 10,000 yards. In 2007, a streak of three straght 1,000-yard seasons was snapped, as Dunn rushed for 720 yards and averaged 3.2 yards per carry. Dunn could provide a versatile compliment to Marion Barber in Dallas and was together in Atlanta with Wade Phillips, then the Falcons defensive coordinator, in 2002 and '03.
As of this writing, the Cowboys have no tailbacks from their 2007 roster under contract. Julius Jones is an unrestricted free agent, and the Cowboys didn't tender restricted free agent Tyson Thompson. Barber is unlikely to leave after being tendered at the highest level, with the Cowboys retaining matching rights, and forcing any team trying to sign him away to pay first- and third-round picks as compensation.
