You forget who our quarterback is?? It's not gonna work on him. Maybe it would put Crayton's big mouth in check, but aside from Barber, we dont have a "fiery" offense.

I hear what you are saying, but it's always good to have a fiery leader to get people excited and focused on giving their all regardless of what kind of qb you have. You can't tell me that Marion Barber's excitement and intensity isn't addictive. Having more then one of those types of guys is always good.

In terms of Crayton, I think he shut his own mouth after his performance vs the Giants. I don't think we will hear anything from him next year ... at least I hope so. I want to hear from his performance, not his mouth.

Now, I am not totally against a Dunn signing, but I would prefer the other backs that I mentioned before. I could possibly move Tatum Bell out of my list and put Dunn in his spot after thinking about Dunn's career and performance though.

I don't buy he is over the hill. He played on a horrible team last year. I think it would be a nice move.

Exactly... Dunn was on a team in turmoil last season...

I can undersrtand why some would want to pass on Dunn. However, I totally agree with the posters who believe that his leadership, experience and skill could be utilized here in Dallas.

I for one believe that he has some gas left in the tank and will be quite effective because he won't have the bulk of the carries. Also, MBIII will also be able to stay fresh with Dunn and whatever new talent we bring in at RB taking some carries.

Last but not least, Dunn can also be good for MBIII in terms of experience. If MBIII still has to get through his first season as the starter, Dunn may prove his worth by helping the youngster out in terms of pacing himself and seeing the game through the eyes of a 1000+ yds back.

I say if he comes with a nice price go get'em

I can see better options than Dunn, but if he will come cheap and is willing to play the third down back role like Kevin Faulk does for the Pats then I don't see why not bring him in.

He broke 1000 yards from 2004-2006... In fact, 2005 and 2006 were his best years statistically as it concerned yardage per year... In 2007, they were in turmoil, so it wouldn't be right to take that as an example of a broken down runner... the guy definitely has some gas left in the tank...

For the right price why not?, I think we'll still get a back in our first 3 picks.

All of this depends on the contract of course..If they want 3 or 4 million a year of course we pass. If they will sign a 2 year deal for a million per then I jump at it.

When I envision a classic 3rd down back Warrick Dunn is the model. Smart, tough, bad matrchup for linebackers, can run inside, can run outside, can catch the ball.

Julius Jones cant carry Warrick Dunns jock. If he gets 5 or 6 carries a game and cathes 3 balls out of the backfield would be perfect.

2008 depth chart

Barber
Dunn
Ray Rice-2nd round pick

No thanks, the guy isn't THAT old, but he has an awful lot of wear and tear on those tires...rather take my chances on Chatman, Ward or even Bell as a veteran addition.

No thanks. Talk about over the hill.

I agree in that respect...

Hell of a player, and an even better person... but his days as a top notch back are over...

Love the guy, but not for us at this point...

i think you are exactly right, we are looking at vets for the 3rd back position anyway and Dunn seems to have the intangibles, if he came at the right price it might be one of the best options

I believe this would be a great move if we can get him at the right price.

Some factors that tie in with my thinking:

He ran for the Falcons. I'm of the opinion that 3.2 YPC can go to 4.5 just by putting him behind our oline. Think Houck.

He gives us a wonderful safety valve for Romo out of the backfield. Screens! Yum!

He brings something else to the locker room that we sorely need (admittedly this applied more to the defense but still...). That is a veteran presence.

No matter how you slice it he is an upgrade over Dumb Down Jones.

At age 33 he still has some shiftiness and work left in the tank behind a quality oline.

Having been around and accumulated over 10,000 yards, he would be a very good mentor for a drafted RB.

At the right price I would welcome him with open arms.

I wouldnt mind it all. He can fill in for awhile and let us use our #1's on a CB and maybe reciever instead of a back.

Dunn might make a good change of pace runner, but he certainly couldn't step in and be the #1 in the event of an injury to Barber. Dunn has always looked pretty good catching passes out of the backfield.

Since he wouldn't have to carry the load I wouldn't mind Dunn being brought in as a vet. backup . He's quick, shifty, speed, and can catch. I wouldn't mind bringing in Dunn at all.

Our running game was slightly above average last year. The way I see it, Dunn can provide more for us than Julius could. He would most definitely be providing much more than Thompson did, which was nothing. So by picking up Dunn, we would be improving our running attack from what it was last season. I don't envision Dunn's age being a problem. We can, and most likely will, draft a running back within the first 3 rounds. Barber (Felix Jones, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Jamaal Charles, etc.) Dunn is much better than Barber Jones Thompson.
